I had food poisoning last week. I'm over it but I don't have my appetite back. I'm completely disinterested in food. Now I don't know what to think about or focus on. I'm adrift in a sea of nothingness.
That’s odd, I’ve had food poisoning a few times in my life, I usually just vomit - feel better immediately, and it’s onto the second course :2thumbsup: Hotwater
I've gone through that before. Sometimes it can take a couple weeks to fully get your appetite back. Just try and eat a little bit more each day
I had salmonella once from chicken, it was awful. I was violently ill for days. I've also gotten sick from bad shrimp (one of the very few times I've ordered/eaten it in my life). The worst projectile puking. I think the fear of being sick keeps people away from eating right after TRUE food poisoning. Because once you experience that violent projectile puking or otherwise - its like you never ever want to eat again. Just drink juice, gatorade, and soup broth to keep your electrolytes up.
Believe it or not, juice and Gatorade are two of the worst things you can drink if you have or are getting over food poisoning or a stomach bug, since the high sugar content just irritates your stomach more. I would recommend coconut water instead, which is loaded with electrolytes, vitamins and minerals, and has a fraction of the sugar. And to the OP, I suggest maybe picking up a bottle of probiotics to get your gut flora back to normal. Take the whole bottle in a day if you need to, or until your stomach starts to feel better.
Hmm cool, I'll definitely try coconut water next time one of us has food poisoning or the like. Thanks!
Cinnamon can be very helpful for improving your appetite (my chinese medicine book says don't use if you are pregnant though). Ginger and cloves can also be helpful for your digestion. Avoiding raw and cold foods may help you. This is odd. Without an appetite, you are unable to think? Can you explain?
I was always thinking about what I was going to eat or else I was going out to eat or going to the supermarket. Now I'm bored.
