That's what I am drinking tonight. I don't drink it often, but I wasn't in the mood for anything too flavorful tonight and am sick of the choices at my local grocery store. But I have to say Heineken isn't too bad. I don't understand why it gets such a bad rap from so many people. The only thing I have against it is that it's overpriced and is sometimes skunked in the 6-packs because of the light damage caused by the green bottles. But really it's on par with Becks, Stella Artois, and the other Euro-lagers. It's nothing special, but it's certainly not bad, either.
i think i tried it once. i don't really remember. i'm drinking steel reserve again because i'm fucking broke.
I'd do my Frank Booth "fuck that shit, PABST BLUE RIBBON" remark, but it's getting played out. the last good beer I had was Anchor Steam.
heineken is alright, and if i'm buying better beer on the cheap, i often buy the 22oz cans of it (i prefer cans for some beers, heineken is better in a can as theres less chance of it getting skunked, though i dont mind some pale lagers being skunked) but all in all, i find becks is more pleasant for me. just harder to find in the big bottles or cans. i got sick of feeling lousy cause i'm sick. so i walked to the bar (only like 3 blocks) a 12oz bottle of la fin du monde is CHEAPER than grolsch, which i enjoy but find too pricey for what it is. when it comes to a nice, affordable, tasty golden lager, my preferance is definitely pilsner urquell. next to that is spaten. and then, the financially responsible glory that is becks....mmmm
I haven't had it in a while, I used to drink it all the time... mainly because it was that or Lucky, but it wasn't bad but then I started hanging out with people who like better beer. I'm not TOO much of a beer person, I like it but I prefer other "beverages" to beer.
actually, me too. And now that you mention it, its been awhile since I've had any. Probably too late to get it today, in this sad sad state, but tomorrow I gotta find someone with it.
Its not my fav....but when I don't have alot of money, I'll drink whatever I can afford....even Pabst
Heineken is okay, I guess. Not my favorite. I would rather pay $10 and upwards for a sixer, or just not drink at all, than drink poor quality beer. II I can't afford anything drinkable, I just won't drink. Quality is more a priority. I will not drink canned beer at all. Period. Seriously, yuck. Out here in Kingston the favorite small brewery is Keegan Ales. I would say when I am unable to splurge on a ten-dollar glass of something from Belgium, they're my favorite affordable beers. Especially Hurricane Kitty. Because I like the name. (It was named for the brewer's mom, I guess, who racked up speeding tickets shuttling kids around in the 60's.) And of course because it is decent beer. I've also had some decent beers from Ithaca Ales, but I think I prefer the local brew, given a choice. In New Paltz there's a wonderful pub & billiards hall called Bacchus. I can't afford to go there very often. They have a very extensive menu of imported and domestic beers. But in spite of my expensive tastes, I actually know relatively little about beer, and I figure a place like Bacchus might be a good place to expand my knowledge.
Yes, I drink all those beers you mentioned as well (well, most of them). It's just that sometimes all I want is a simple lager. When it comes to the Euro-lagers, they are all pretty much the same. I don't think Heineken is much different from Grolsch, Becks and the others.
