I don't know about the rest of you. But basically everything I learned about PC's I found out by simple trial an error. Starting around 2001 when I first went online in local libraries, and then 2002 when we first got our PC. (I've been on smartphone for less time. But ditto for that.)

One of the biggest headaches I found early on posting on message boards was copying and pasting off of other places online. I do most of my typing and sharing thru copying and pasting. Sometimes just copying and pasting my own text. Either from other sites, or if I have to keep repeating a long phrase or a couple of sentences. I noticed right away that when I do this on message boards, the PC I'm using right away wants to hold onto all the coding. The bolding, italics, hyperlinks, etc. So, what I did early on was just put it first on a text document, then wherever I wanted to re-post it. Then I usually don't even bother saving the text document.

Actually recently I found an even easier way. I first put it in the dialog box of another message board. Usually the one I am already on. Or maybe search box of Google, or something like that. I don't think that message board or Google would mind. Actually I don't know if they'd even know, as long as I don't post the text.

Or even simpler, I just do a Ctrl + F search of the page with all that text. That always removes all the coding too. I don't know if you are supposed to do that with a Ctrl + F search. Because sometimes I do that with a lot of text. My computer allows me to do it and I don't get any warnings. My computer is slow sometimes and has a couple of bugs in it. But I think that is mainly because it is old and has a lot of malware on it.

Also, on my smartphone I find I can remove all the coding if I send it first to myself as a text. Now sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. I guess if I keep resending the text to myself it might work. Also I know there is a difference between the text you send yourself and the message you received from yourself. I think the one you received is the one without the coding. I have to look into that one. Or, when all else fails on my PC or smartphone, I can just paste the information on the web address line of the page and then copy that. That always removes all the coding. But then I have to use the text right on that page. If I move onto another page, all this weird stuff is added to the text. Like my PC or smartphone thinks I was doing a web address bar search of that text, if that makes any sense.

I also send myself information via self texts and emails. I've been doing that for over 20 years too. If you do that yourself, just remember not to send yourself sensitive information, like your credit card number or passwords. Because you just never know who's reading your emails. In the US they say, emails are in no way protected by the fourth amendment.
