my BF made fun of me! He told me I was too young to do that sort of thing and that his grandmother used to do it. She would make things for him but they were always too uncomfortable to wear. I told him, relax, I won't be making any goods for him guess he wouldn't appreciate it anyway. However I wish I got to know his bubbie (sp?) before she passed away, I'm sure she would have liked to show me. I just want some blankies for the winter, and to learn the actual skill/craft. I'd love to be able to make booties, hats, scarves, blankets, and so on for my babies when I have them.
He went to bed early and was whining when it was 2:30 and I still wasn't sleeping next to him. Whatever...I'm having fun learning different kinds of stitches. Guys can be so wierd...

    Good for you sweetie,

It is totally hip to learn anything that makes you happy and is an art.
I love seeing the future generations learning skills that seem to be dying out.

There are awesome books at the library on crocheting and beautiful natural yarns at the craft stores and department stores. Anything that makes you more self sufficient is very worth while.
Tell him if you ever get stranded on a desserted island you will be able to crochet a hammock to sleep on...then ask him where he will sleep????

Your BF is insecure! Tell him about the things you can make him now! Those slipper/booties things are WARM! I'd kill for a pair!
