I Just *looooove* Winter.

I popped in to say exactly this. It is supposed to be 70 on Christmas Day here

 

I heard this 17th december is the warmest in recorded history over here.

 

It's all completely normal....

 

Yep, happy winter soltice, all....and each day now we gain another minute of light before sunset time on our clocks...nature does not care what times we go by on the clock........and that is not a complaint.....

Now it gets lighter and lighter. Today was just under one second longer than yesterday!

 

I saw a bank full of daffodils blooming on Sunday, Dec. 20th.

 

Happy winter solstice everyone! I know I know I'm late too but I was busy earlier.

It is stragely warm here for december. We will be having a green Christmas it seems. My ice queen title may have to be revoked.

It's a mild winter so far. Good for certain things. But I miss a good week of too cold lets stay inside weather.

 

It's the same here, mild and raining, not our usual December weather. I'm still complaining about snow in general, I don't want to get out of practice!

 

Daffodils are poking out of the ground, trees are budding, the robins are singing, baby squirrels are running around for the first time...

Still no snow here, just more rain. We must have a record for rainfall this year. We're supposed to get hit with a snowstorm next week, after Christmas!

It has been rainy here too and humid, feels super icky. The high tomorrow here is 76, low tonight 63? I don't even know what to think about that.

 

Atlanta broke it's record for high temp on Christmas Day. The high today was 75F

 

A green Christmas was a weird thing to experience.

 

I love living in a place with all 4 seasons.

This is going to be a great winter. Yesterday I had my first white Christmas since 1998. Growing up I was always jealous people who lived on the east side of the mountains who got lots of snow. Some people hate it and I know it can be a pain in the ass to shovel each day, but I love looking out my window in the morning and seeing snow all over the ground.

Winters out here in the northwest are goregous. Around here there's forests of evergreen trees that never lose their leaves or needles. So all the trees and plants still look alive during the wintertime. When I lived in Prague for one winter there were no evergreen trees and everything looked dead, so it was kind of a reality check for me. It gets foggy around here in the wintertime, which I could really do without sometimes. Luckily I can always escape the fog by climbing to the top of one of the smaller mountains around this area and rise above it. It's so awesome to climb above the fog and look across the clouds that cover the land like a blanket for some breathtaking views.

 

Just heard on the local news temps are expected to dip from 20 degrees above normal to twenty degrees below normal in a couple weeks. I can finally go into super introverted hibernation mode. I am excited.

 

Still autumn here as usual. We do have all 4 seasons here too. It is just so that the winter season only lasts a week (it usually arrives somewhere in januari or februari)

 

We finally got some snow today. I was starting to think winter had given up this year.
