i tried vegetarianism for six months, and i decided i don't like it. i like meat. i am not disgusted by the thought of eating it. i am an omnivorous mammal. we all are. i do care about animals and the humane treatment of them. i do believe there are humane ways to raise animals for meat. right now i'm only eating fish since i just quit vegetarianism. i've decided i do want to abstain from beef and pork, but i want to eventually add free range, organic chicken and turkey back into my diet. i don't think i'm a bad person for deciding i want to eat meat again. i'm afraid some of the vegetarians in the veggie forum would verbally assault me for quitting. i just decided it's not for me. i do admire people who can be veggie for longer than me. i have no respect for people who would put me down for deciding to eat meat again.
Yeah I tried for about a day in a half and said to hell with it. The Vegans will assault you even in this part of the forum.
yeah, no worries. i'm a vegetarian not because i think eating meat is bad, or immoral. i mean, it's the whole circle of life thing, and everything is a part of it. if your vegatarian your still killing a living thing. it's more the treatment of the animal before it's killed, and then all the gross chemicals pumped into it that turn me away.
That's okay. We have no respect for you, either. Just kidding -- if we didn't respect you, what would stop us from eating your flesh? You're an animal too. Think about it like this ... if a bear came, and ate your baby, and then ate you, would you be pissed off at the bear? What if an alien took you away from your mother, gave you steroids to make you fat, squeezed your tits every day, forced you to be pregnant every 9 months, took your children away from you, left you in cold and disugsting pens, and finally when you are no longer any use, chop you up into bits, salt your meat, wrap it up in plastic and styrofoam, and put you on display at your nearest grocer? -- Just a few things you may want to think about. It's not about liking or disliking meat. It's a movement, a boycott of the way the meat industry gets its meat, an acknowledgement of the truth: that meat is unhealthy (the average vegetarian lives 7 years longer -- vegans lives on average 15 years longer!) and while it's served its evolutionary purpose, it's time to move on. You said yourself that you dislike the inhumane treatment of animals -- but consider the idea that for a second, it's not about your taste in food, but rather about the lives of other sentient beings. Were it human lives that were on the line, the average person would be up in arms over the number of slaughters (per person): 93! That's worse than the numbers coming back from Iraq!!
My point of view on this is, there is nothing wrong with eating meat however the manner in which me make sure we can do so is very disgusting and something most people choose to ignore.
I tried twice, it was hard for me. I was a veggatrain for a total of a year or so. Don't worry, your not alone... If you got as hungry as I got I don't blame you. My mom didn't know what to cook, and I tryed to cook for my self and it turned out ... AAUGh it was just nasty... the tofo and stuff, Im sure if I made it right it would have been good. I still want to try again, but maybe add fish this time. But don't worry its a hard thing, and at least you tried and you tried because you cared!
I respect those for being vegetarians, i could not do it myself. nothing like a burger or a steak tho!!
It's okay to eat fish? Poor little fishy swimming along, looking for a meal. When all of a sudden, he spots a worm. Takes a chunk, and wham, hook to the mouth. He is struggling bad to get away from the hook, but it's just to sharp and powerful. Then, you keep it out of the water to suffocate? How about I suffocate you? Then a knife cuts it in half for your enjoyment? What's wrong with you
Hmmm, yea I don't eat meat at all, but if it is what you're body is craving then deffinately don't bother yourself with it, I beleive that some people are born with a certain disposition, and some are meant to eat meat and some peoper are supposed to eat lettuce
i think if you are and are going to go out of your way to reduce your meat eating and not eat factory farmed meat... free range, humanly treated etc... that is really something- more then most people do and if EVERYONE would do that.. wow. it would be great. that's pretty much where i am at. i tried being vegitarian and had issues with it.... maybe in the future ill go there again but for now i try to be CONSCIOUS of the meat that i do eat.
I ate a spider crawling off the wall once, it didn't have much meat on it. Oh that reminds me I have to go let the spiders out of the shop vac in the yard. Maybe they are still alive, it's kinda dusty in there.
I read about a 2 year old who got lost in the wilderness and ate bugs and licked dew off leaves to survive. I think eating meat is an inherited trait rather than a moral right and wrong thing.
I was a vegetarian for almost 3 years. And I was the sickest I've ever been in my life. It would have been a lovely lifestyle to keep up and I would have, but I can't afford to be a vegetarian. It's too expensive around here to get the supplements you need to keep up with the nutrients meat has and it was waaaaay too expensive to go without and end up at the doctor's office every month. I might go back if I move to a veggie friendly area...or become extremely wealthy.
you can get hi protein supplement for about 20 bucks a month off the internet, that includes shipping. PM me if interested.
I was a vegetarian for a few months this year... I basically did it until I no longer felt a craving for meat, and then I felt like my goal was accomplished. I don't feel like eating meat vs eating veggies saves any more cruelty (pesticides, etc), but that is completely my personal opinion. I was just trying to eliminate unbalance and craving in one aspect of my life.
oh, please. that's nice and mature to try to make me look like a cruel monster for eating animals, when we are all BY NATURE omnivorous. i think it's great when people abstain from eating meat, but i myself have a hard time sticking to the lifestyle. i don't feel like i should justify my lifestyle to someone who uses such an unintelligent way of arguing their point. that's all i'll say to you.
