I was walking my 1 year old 70 lb. german shepherd around this trail near town and he was off his leash cause there weren't any other people around. I saw some early 30's couple walking up with their 2 little white terrier things about 50 yards away (also off their leash) and called my dog to put him on his leash, the common sense responsible thing to do. They decided not to leash their dogs. There was a solid 50 yards between us so they had an ample amount of time to do so if they wished. We got within 10 yards of each other and the little dogs bolted at us freaking out trying to bite my big ass german shepherd. Now my dog is well trained and doesn't bark at other people or dogs. We calmly walked by while the couple was freaking out screaming at their little dogs, it was quite comical considering they could have avoided the whole thing had they leashed their untrained dogs. My dog could have crushed and ripped off those little shits skulls had he wanted to and we wouldn't be the least bit liable. It was a public trail, my dog was on a leash under control, their's wasn't and their dogs initiated it. But I actually trained my dog, he would never act aggressively unless I was in danger. Weird right? But I guarentee if my dog were to do that we would be made the villians. Why? I dont know. Why is it that people who own small breed dogs dont have to comply to same standards of those who own large breed dogs? :toetap05:
Something similar once happened to me...I was walking my sister's rottweiler and some idiots had their little terrier thing on their front lawn not tied up. So it came running across the street to attack us (dumber than shit), and I had to stand behind Shelby and hold her up by the chest so she didn't eat this stupid little dog. The people pretty much just stood there stunned for a good minute before doing anything... I dislike little dogs.
people question why im so hard (training-wise) on my great dane/pitt mix. people dont realize how important all the hours of training can be at the critical moment when your dog is either good or attacks and has to be put to sleep. my dog has done the same thing every time he encounters any other dog. for some reason, he has a hard time meeting other dogs that aren't aggressive towards him. he just sits there and pulls his face back and waits for my command. i never take the leash off Jefro, though. he's too playful and likely to chase some kids down.
Some people are total fucktards when it comes to dogs. They let them run around freely on the cycle paths round here, despite the numerous signs telling them to keep them on a leash. So every few hundred yards there is someones dog or dogs running around freely, and so then I have to slow down to avoid one of them suddenly darting under my wheels sending my flying into a jaggy bush and subsequently breaking my ankle. Occasionally I get really frustrated at this and shout at them to get their fucking dogs an a lead, for god's sake! But they don't like that, they think that they can control their dogs and have this amazing ability to hear me coming from behind and call on their dogs to stay out of the way. So there I am riding along, and I see the dogs walking ahead of them and I slow down to an easy speed so I can safely maneouver out of the way of harm or stop, they then see me coming and then call on their dogs, who then stop walking in the direction they were already and suddenly dart across my path getting in the way. I told some woman off one day and she was quite rude back to me saying that she can control her dog. I said, well why then did I have to stop to allow you the time to get your mutt out of the way? Next day I am cycling home and I see two dogs on a lead in front and I think, nice to see some people taking responsibility for once. Then, just as I am about to pass this woman's dog comes scarpering down the hill towards the other dogs, totally getting in my fucking way AGAIN! Oh yeah, that's totally being in control of your dogs you stupid bitch. So I gave her a look as if to say, I fucking told you didn't I, and she just walked off with hear head down. It's not like it's now and again this happens, it's every fucking time I ride along these paths, because there are so many people in this neighbourhood with dogs. Why don't they take their dogs to some of the surrounding fields and forestry commission land, there is plenty of land for them to let their dogs run freely, oh but they don't want to get their shoes dirty and have their dog trailing mud through the house. If you don't like that then don't get a fucking dog in the first place. I mean they wouldn't let their mutts run around freely if there were cars around! So why do they think they have the right to do this on cycle paths. Total fucking morons. I hate people, but I love dogs. It's not their fault it's their stupid ass owners. <rant over>
small dogs. pfft. fucking lame. little handy snacks with fur for real dogs. i never did get along with small dogs.
I have an enormous pyranese(who has the energy to match) that I like to take to happy hollow park. I get a good quarter of a mile on the trail, then I let him off the leash, hand the leash to my ADHD son and tell him "oh no! He's getting away!) And then they both run for a couple of hours and everyone is calm. My dog has never attacked or menaced another person or animal. When people or other dogs walk past, he sits off the path until they pass. He's such a good boy.
I never liked little Chihuahuas. Little ankle biters and they wiggle so bad that you cant hold them. Skinny little dogs annoy me but I seem to like corgi's and Pomeranians...something about those 2 dogs are just so darn cute
Haha, you gotta be careful about some of those terriers. I own a Jack Russell who is not allowed down a certain road after an incident with a Siberian Husky.
