I knew of a girl in highschool who had irregular periods and didn't realize she was pregnant until she was close to 6 months... then she started showing big time... i don't know how realiable that is since i heard it from one of her friends, but, i guess it's possible, if you don't show and do spot some and don't really have any symptoms...

    Yes, it's possible.

Some women actually have (what they think are) periods during the first few months of their pregnancy.

Man im not sure aye, I took a HPT like 2 months ago and it came up negitive but im still not sure. My body has been acting really strange, like my periods havent been as heavy as usual, kinda spotty i guess, slightly brown, and they always were irregular, my stomach hurts slightly, like not hardout cramps but...like um, its hard to explain exactly. I was suppose to take another HPT but i keep convincing myself that im not pregnant. I hope im not because if i was, that poor baby is guna be seriously messed up, (because i've been drinking alot of alcohol lately). I would feel so guilty if i was though.

how do you spell naieve btw?

my suggestion would be to take another pregnancy test... you might even have a clinic nearby that can do it for free, i know we have them everywhere here in the u.s.

Don't drink if there's a chance you could be pregnant. Even if you aren't pregnant, it's not going to kill you not to get drunk for a few days. Take another test to be sure.

    BTW: It's "naive"

yes, definately possible... especially with irregular periods like others have said. Sometimes serious illness' (ie really really bad flu) can upset your period as well, or stress can even make them go wonky. I'm on depo, which means I don't menstruate, and thought I might be pregnant (weight gain, moodiness, that's all for signs though) so I bought a test. only $7.50 for peace of mind (I'm not, yay for me)

I was two months pregnant before I knew, I did have one period that was normal enough, then after I found out one more really light one like you described. But I ddin't feel crampy or anything else like you say, so I don't know, could be something else.

BTW naive or naïve if you can get that special i ( I copied and pasted it)

Yeah, I got pregnant when I was 19, full life ahead of me and whatnot...but I never once thought that it was okay to still go out and get drunk.

Look, I'm not trying to be a bitch, but if you think that you might be pregnant, and have any intentions of giving birth, then you need to A) go to the doctor to make SURE you are not pregnant and B) until then, PLEASE take care of your body.

good call on taking another test. when did you take the first test? is there a chance that you took it too early, and it wasn't detected? could you have gotten pregnant after taking that first test?

if you are pregnant, the sooner you find out, the better. that way you can either get pre-natal care or an abortion before it's too late.

if you are pregnant and don't intend on maintaining the pregnancy, i don't see the harm in drinking... but if you plan on keeping it, you should stop drinking. it'd be hard enough to raise a healthy baby at 17, but a baby with mental retardation and/or birth defects would be a hell of a lot harder.

if you've been real stressed about your period and possibly being pregnant, that could effect your cycle. have you been having any morning sickness, or any nausea through the day? breast tenderness? moodiness? have you started or stopped taking any medication or vitamins? are you on the pill, and (if you are) are you still taking the pill daily?

if the next pregnanct test comes up negative, and you're not convinced you're fetus-free, you might want to take a blood test. i think they're supposed to be a lot more accurate, though obviously ask your doctor about it (because i'm obviously not one).

Like others have said, go to a doctor for a more accurate test. The other question in my mind would be, if it's not pregnancy causing these symptoms, what else might it be? I've known some women who would only bleed like once every 4-5 months when they were on the track team in high school or something comparable, because your exercise & body fat levels affect your cycles (no, women are not meant to have only 5% body fat like some anorexic models, that will fuck with your reproductive cycle & your ability to get pregnant). Guessing by your name, did you either smoke large amounts of pot then quit around 3 months ago, or go for a while without it & start smoking daily 3 months ago? That's another factor that will affect it.

But, are there any serious health problems (or problems that could become serious if left untreated) that would cause those same symptoms? I'm asking because I don't really know, but I would want to talk to a doctor about it -- especially the fact that you're having pain that you didn't have before.

As for drinking, you know better than to keep doing it. You can complain all you want about having your whole life ahead of you, how being prego would mess up all your plans, but it's your fault, not this possible child's fault. The only decent thing to do is to stop until you find out for sure. If you're already 3 months along, in the States you would be too late for an abortion anyway, so that's probably not even an option anymore. In which case, you must take care of yourself until you give birth. Then, there is always the option of giving it up for adoption -- which I would highly recommend if you don't really want to stop drinking just because you might be prego (which shows you are not ready to make the sacrifices necessary to do right by a child). If you go with that option, keep in mind that a healthy baby has a much better chance of finding a good home than a baby with fetal alcohol syndrome.

For your sake, I hope you are not pregnant. Good luck. See a doctor.

my advice is go get another test, just to calm your nerves.

has anyone ever noticed how people on this forum like to say that YES you can have your period AND negative pregnancy tests AND be pregnant?

and that even if you have negative urine tests, well you better get a blood test too, because maybe all those urine tests are wrong?

while i'm sure this HAS happened, the combination of menstruation AND negative pregnancy tests (i believe she said she took one one month after the last time she had sex, and a HPT is considered effective long before that) does NOT indicate a likely pregnancy.

i mean what does it take to mean you're NOT pregnant around here? :)

if you have always been irregular, then i'm not sure what your expectations for your period generally are. if something in the back of your mind is still nagging you that you might be pregnant, then definitely go get another test, just to make yourself feel better ;) and then head over to the doctor to find the real cause of your period problems.
