So I have had my dreads for about 4 months now and they are locking up beautifully. However, the more mature dreads are becoming a little stinky. I'm thinking that possibly I didn't dry them well enough in the beginning and now.. well now they just smell. How do I get rid of this? Is there anything that can kill the odor?
I dunno if i dry my hair the right way either, i just chuck it up in a towel and then another one to get rid of as much water as poss then leave it to air dry. As for the smell look on another thread about deep cleaning and try that it should strip it of any shit x
if you've got smelly dreadies... you should maybe use the concoction on the front page.. and also when you are washing your hair, RINSE RINSE RINSE. and then squeeze each dread as hard as you can (i take a towel and wrap each dread up and SQUEEEEEEZE!) it works pretty damn well, helps get some of the moisture outta the middle of the dread, where it likes to linger. you could also blowdry your hair. although i've never done that. but i cant see why it would hurt. goodluckies!
blowdrying doesn't work, it works on the outside, but the locks are still wet on the inside. Only works with babydreadies . I wash, put them in a towel for 30 minutes, and then let them dry in the air.
wash each individual dread with bar soap. make sure you got all the soap out. take a bath and soak your hair. blowdrying can help. did you use wax and shit to make them?
if they are smelley please use tea tree oil, its anti- everything and will fight the mold off, thats the last thing we want.
Only when I wash them though. Today I used some lemon juice and tea tree oil and it seems to have helped a little bit But I dont know what has caused them to be smelly, im half temped to condition them 2 and take them out and start again or give them a chop!!! Damn smelly head
wiggy dont you dare take them out!!!! you started your dreads just before me, and i wanted a race i will let you know if you smell as i'm kind like that :jester: jam some tea tree on em, or something like that!
you probably didn't dry them competly before going to bed. Don't cut em! If I have smelly dreadies if I'm going out, not having time to wash them, I use spray deodorant or perfume!
It might be that I havent been drying them proper, im still learning with them i surpose. Im not going to take them out, i do love my dreadies
Keep washing with tea tree oil, from memory it's a handy anti-bacterial + anti-fungal thingy, Keep at it, don't give in to a little smellyness kekeke
