People ask for advice/ideas for tattoos. If you don't know what design/picture/lettering ect you want to get permanetly tattooed onto your body why the hell you would get one. It seems rather pointless and ignorant to me. When a person gets a tattoo I think it should mean something to you, and should be something you've been considering for a long ass time. If you can't decide what you want for a tattoo I suggest it's not time for you to get one.

It's fucking lame and I hate it. It's your body so why the hell not use your own mind to design it?

Yeah that bugs me sometimes. If I ever were to get a tattoo, I would design it myself.

While I agree with you, and see tattoos as something that should be very personal and taken very seriously, I just realized that you and I have to understand that not everyone SEES the idea of tattoos the way we do. To us, they're important. To some people, they're not; not much different from jewelry or accessories or clothes. So if you view it with that mindset, a tattoo doesn't need to have significance for such people. At least, not much more than deciding what posters to hang on your wall. It's all about personal perspective.

I hold off on getting any tattoos for a couple of reasons. One, is that I would have to have a very very important design, created by myself, to put on. The other is that I cannot abide the idea of some dude somewhere putting this permanent thing on me for money. That cheapens it. It's not like some tribal elder is doing it, without monetary compensation, as part of some ritual. It's not real different from buying anything else at a store. And that, to me, is not how it should be.

So I think, at this point, that the only way I'd get a tattoo is if I could put on on myself.

I personally wouldn't want someone who doesn't know me to design my tat, but different strokes for different folks. I know my artist changed my ideas around a bit and they looked better.

Anyway, as long as its not hate related, I don't judge people's motives for their ink

I'm just curious to why someone who doesn't take tattoos seriously would get one.

I agree as well. What I find amusing is the fact that people, when asked the signifigance of their tattoos, say, "Oh, it does not symbolize anything." Marking your body without a purpose... how trendy.

"Because it just looks so cool and goes so well with my new highlights!!"

The sad thing is, I guarantee a similar if not identical thought process/reasoning has existed.

    So basically what Jeffrey said
"It's not real different from buying anything else at a store. And that, to me, is not how it should be."

Yea, I agree you are exchanging money for it which is the downfall but *hopefully* you are the one who designed the image so it's from your heart and should represent something important to you...

Some people are just lame and need to be ridiculed.

..these people need to realize that trends die, but unlike tacky earrings you can't throw away or scrub off a tattoo.

Look,i have meaning in most of my tattoos...

But why does a tattoo have to REALLY have a meaning? Why is it a sin to get a tattoo you just really thought looked cool? I dont think there's anything wrong with it. It's your body,It's your decision. I say more power to the person that just genuinely likes their design. Tattoos dont HAVE to be deep and meaningful all the time

well i wouldn't worry about it too much, i mean they arne't taking away the seriousness or meaning from any of your tatts and their the ones who have to live with some random deisgj on their body for the rest of their life. or pay money to get it removed becuase it was stupid.

i also agree with crayon when he says that tattoos don't HAVE to be deep and meaningful, i am getting jack skellington on my back next month, simply becuase it's my favourite movie, and i've loved it forever. there is no deep meaning other than i'm in love with the movie.

...and thats understandable that you're getting something just because you love it, but it's something completely different when someone needs to ask others what tattoo he/she should get.

I just hate it, and I felt the urge to rant about it.

yeah i know what you mean, it is annoying.

so here's what you need to do, when some one comes up and asks you, give them anti-advice, just tell them to get some so wrong and ugly tattooed on them. then laugh about it later. okay i know i'm evil, but it would teach them... hahahaha

If someone gets a tattoo for the hell of it, just because, then they deserve what they get *laughs*.

It IS annoying when people don't know what they want and just get SOMETHING or listens to what others' opinions are, but they're the ones paying the money....let them make the stupid mistakes LOL.
