... but god damn, do i love walmart!! i have been to them before back in ohio, and they always had gross produce and meat. despite the really low prices, it just wasn't worth shopping there. well, then there's my disdain for the company itself. but the one here has fresh meat and produce every bit as good as kroger or meijer or any other "regular" grocery, but with much lower prices. i went to the store today and got: 3 whole chickens 1 seedless watermelon bag of plums bag of onions big bag of potatoes two cucumbers a bunch of bananas a can of chickpeas a box of pasta a big thing of beef broth a large jar of great northern beans fresh greenbeans a new roasting pan a carton of orange juice two lemons a package of pumpernickel sandwich rolls frozen lima beans frozen broccoli all in all this is at least a week of food for me and my sister. really more since it's mostly for me. when all was said and done, i only had to pay 44 dollars and some cents
Holy crap, only $44 for all of that?! Oh my goodness, that amount of stuff would cost me twice that at the grocery store where I shop! But there are no Super Wal-Marts around here, the nearest one wouldn't make much sense for me to go to considering the amount of money in gas I'd end up spending to get there and back. Now if I were in the area, that's another thing, but I'm rarely ever in that area. Sooo...guess I'll just have to fantasize about paying that kind of money for my groceries.
That's definitely a good price for all of that shit. I hate wal-mart too though. They had me arrested....the bastards. haha
walmart is just down the street from where i live, so we just go there. i really dont love walmart, but dammit, they are so close, and theres such a variety of things that i can get all at once.
I hate Walmart. I hate the fact that I shop at Walmart on a regular basis. It's ruining this country but on my schedule, it's the only place open a lot of the time. Not to mention the convenience of it all. The things that make America "great" are also dragging us down a slippery slope to idiocracy
I've never been to a Wal-Mart, not being American, but when I lived in England I did all my shopping at ASDA which is the Wal-Mart owned, British equivalent. It was incredible. I could afford to eat on about 10 pounds a week (about $20) and I ate well. I also bought a lot of clothes and household goods there at indescribably cheap prices. Super-ASDAs were even better. Nesta...that is truly amazing and it all sounds like good quality stuff. That would cost over $100 here.
Wal-Mart is really great for groceries, but ours is still one of the ancient tiny Wal-Marts, so it isn't a super center, so I can't get many groceries besides junk food and canned food there. And blah blah blah bliddy bloo, "Wal-Mart sucks," when it's already run everything else in town out of business, you don't have much fucking choice.
that 24 hour fitness in your sig is in San Diego.. and on to Wal Mart.. Price is king, what can you do?
wAl-Mart is ok for some things some times but not most things most times. Some shit is overpriced as shit.
They employ children who would otherwise starve or bum on the streets, and allow for me to pay less money for stuff. I see absolutely nothing to hate... other than the fact that they don't really carry any clothing that fits me.
i do, but i have a couple hundred dollars to both live off of an pay bills until school starts, so i'm pretty much fucked. i'm going to be selling plasma as it is to make ends meet i think, so i'll take what i can get. i really can't be bothered to make a choice between a more ethical company and hunger.
Yeah, honestly... some of us actually have to pay for our groceries out of our own money instead of our parents buying them for us...
Don't defend yourself, Nesta, what you just said is common sense. If you have the means to shop elsewhere, then by all means do, but when you really don't have a choice, you gotta still live.
