My dreads are like roughly 7-8 months, backcomed once.... I have lost track of time somehow over the last few months...lol:sifone:

Sadly the pics in my gallery are from months ago... And I have only a shitty portable web cam/digi to work with in the first place, so the shame I feel for posting pics is heavy. Anyhow My thing is my Dreads are getting to be super stable, maby in the first stages of being mature. They are all dreading up less than 1 inch from my scalp, super close.

I have always heard that it is ideal to have them dread 1 inch or more from the scalp, so that they can have maximum movement?

i'm not sure what you are worried about here. the only way it wont be able to move would be if the hair was pulled super tight to the scalp, but i am positive that could never happen on its own.

anyways, i think 1 inch is just a common length for them to be free. i wouldn't be surprised if people had shorter or longer roots on mature locks.

    Right on....

I guess I was getting worried because they have quit shrinking, and some of my dreads have finally gained some length. And some of the dreads in the back are forming nearly at the scalp.
Now that my dreads are gowing in length again, i am able to see where each one starts dreading from the roots. I can barely move thoes ones in the back though..

Yep, exactly... Except they are not sticking out from my head though.. All my other locks can be moved around freely, but some in the back cannot be because they are dreaded so close to the scalp and like stiffly dreaded throughout the whole length..Maby thoes ones I backcomed a little too tight when I did my dreads 8 months ago?

well the hair on the back of your head is almost always rubbing against something too, so really tight backcombing that didn't fall out and that movement is what im guessing what caused it. either that or this is just normal.

does it hurt at all if you try to move it, have you taken a mirror to see what is going on?

    Because of height or width?

The width stretches out the page and the height makes it a tad annoying to scroll down your post.
So basically both is grounds for deletion.

Herbalist I think you will always have some undreaded hair and it will help them from pulling on your scalp as much because their will be less tension I suppose.
