I Hate Simple Plan! Anyone Else Feel The Same Way?

I know a lot of you are going to disagree with this because you don't know any better. Here it is. The Truth!

Simple Plan is not punk.
They are the biggest poser punk band I have ever heard besides Bowling For Soup.
Understand this! Please open your minds to this.
A lot of you won't agree because you consider yourselfs punk rockers, and you like Simple Plan. Before you disagree please look up the word Punk.
Apply the definition to the lyrics of Simple Plans songs. Any similarities!
Punk rock is not about how you fucking dress, or how you style your damn hair. And it is not a state of mind.(Punk "music" was invented before any punk state of mind)! It's also not about piercings or tattoos.
It's the way you live your life, and it's always about the music.
It pisses me off that a lot of you punk rockers out there are excepting them. If you are a true punk then please unite with me. Its wrong for us to except this. I know it might not sound like a big deal, but bands like these are going to bring Punk down. The only band I can compare Simple Plan to are those fags from England,BBMak. I really hope you understand what I'm trying to tell you. I know I don't just speak for myself when I say that "I don't want to see PUNK ROCK turned into pop rock. We can change this by not buying Simple Plan or Bowling For Soups CD's.

If you just read the damn lyrics you'll see that every song is about a fucking girl. And they try to make it all cute. That is for mainstream. If you want to call these bands punk, then fine. Fuck you. Why don't you tell it to bands like, NoFX and Bad Religion, or The Casualties who are working hard to keep punk what it is supposed to be.
I know that I'm pretty much laying down rules for what punk should be. And you might say Punk doesn't have rules. That is not true. In everything you will find rules. That is how the world works. Think about it. If punk has no rules then I guess N'Sync or the fucking Backstreet Boys can be punk. People who say Punk has no rules are dumb. They got it mixed up. It's about being a punk and not obeying the rules, going against the flow, fighting the man. As far as being a punk band their are no rules as to what you have to say in your lyrics. That's what it means when they say there are no rules for Punk Rock. If you don't agree with this then screw you. I'm not saying you're not punk if you like simple plan or bowling for soup. I'm just saying you are a punk who likes two bands who are not punk. THANK YOU!

 

Yes, they suck, so does yellow card and new found glory hole or whatever they are called. Those kind of bands make me want to go shoot myself rather than hear them sing.

you know what i hate about 'punk' music? the lyrics could have been written by a 5 year old and nobody would know the difference, and what the fuck is up with theyre whiny voices? if you think there are actually people on here that like simple plan, then youre in the wrong place. everyone here knows they suck.

 

First of all, the reason you think all punk singers have whiny voices is probably because you don't listen to punk. Listen to Rancid, Rise Against, The Unseen and then try to say that. What kind of a dumbshit are you. Don't fuckin say shit about punk if you don't listen to it.
You are also wrong when you say everyone knows that Simple Plan sucks.
They are a multi-platinum band. I have been searching for websites that support the hate of Simple Plan and I found nothing. If everyone knows they suck then why can't I find supportive websites.
Also if you want to hear good punk lyrics then listen to The Used, Senses Fail, A.F.I., or even Green Day.

so do you think that punk is just about young, decayed homosexual prostitutes that should be set on fire? is that what you look for when looking for a good band? do nofxs lyrics apply to the definition? quite a lot of ORIGINAL punk bands were made up of homosexuals. you dont see the fans of 60s/70s punk bitching that all the new punks bands are straight.

punk has been falling for a long long time. do you know anything about bands such as the velvet underground? by the sounds of your post you dont. you bitch that all they sing about is chicks but lately, bands like nofx and bad religion seem to only rant on about how much the government sucks. and i hate to tell ya, but theyre getting more and more mainstream every month.

and how exactly can you say punk music was invented before punk state of mind. the punk music of today is nothing like the punk music of the 60s/70s. the punk state of mind of today isnt either. its not like people started playing music differently and then decided to have a different mindset to go along with it.

I'm not a "punk" but I listen to some of the music. I've always loved Rancid. I will totally agree with you about Simple Plan, they suck huge ass! Yellowcard, Newfound Glory, etc., they all suck too!! I actually don't know anything about Bowling for Soup but I will check them out. Definitley love The Used, AFI, and of course Geen Day.

also beware of 'protest the hero' another local punk band thats about to make it big. (except protest the hero is a lot cooler than sum 41 or simple plan)

 

You really know what your talking about. I'll give you that. But I think you know what I mean when I say look up the definiton of the word punk. How do we use that word today. That's what I mean. I get carried away with this hatred for bubble gum pop rock that is passed for punk rock. I do look at Velvet Underground as one of the forefathers of punk rock. Also The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, The Clash, Buzzcocks, and The Stooges. I am not trying to piss other punk rockers off. Just people who listen to Simple Plan or Bowling For Soup. When I say there are no rules for what to write in a punk song, I mean you can be as explicit as you want and get away with it because it's punk. But writing every fucking song about a girl cannot be real. Espeically when it is written so cutsie tootsie just to get a billboard hit. That's not what music is for, and it sure is not what punk rock is for. I look at music as a form of art. We use it in a way to express our lives, our thoughts and beliefs, and our emotions. If you are going to write a song about a girl, make it about something that has really happened. I love punk because it's the only thing that picks me up when I am down. Simple Plan does the opposite. I want to rip my ears off when I hear that shit. I may not have said what I said correctly, but I think you understand where I am coming from. You also said bands like NoFX and Bad Religion are getting more and more mainstream every month. That doesn't make me happy either, but at least they have something real to say. You may not agree with it but it's more real than that bubble gum pop shit. I know I have said some stuff about NoFX and Bad Religion but they are not my favorite. Truly my favorite bands right now are Senses Fail, The Used, My Chemical Romance, and Tsunami Bomb. Check 'em out if you haven't already. Thank you for writing me, but try not to get so angry at me. We need to unite. We need to bring Punk Rock back to what it is supposed to be. I don't think the forefathers would be happy with the way it is now.

Funny you bitch about punk rock, then three of your four favortie bands are deffinently NOT punk. Tsunami Bomb would depend on who you ask. Not to mention, they're all getting pretty mainstream. I mean, c'mon. The Used? That's about as punk as Simple Plan. Granted, they sound better, but still. Why exactly do you think you need to change people's musical opinions anyway? If your seeking support, do it with less bitching. Punk Rock will never go back to the way it was, it is now only a selling point for the music industry. It's a fashion. If you want to feel better about the pile of shit punk has become, tell yourself it's DEAD. Oh yeah, and I like Sum41. Especially the last two albums. I grew out of that silly conforming anti-conformist phase a long time ago. There are several mainstream bands worth hating, and several worth loving...but being mainstream has nothing to do with which it should be.
