Thats what sucks about being young, other young people judge you and can make your life hell! Im 16 years old and theres nothing more that Id love to walk around town in flowy skirts and bandanas all the time but i always feel like people will judge me and i dont know why i care so much! It sucks living in a little English town becuase i know everyone, and all the arse-holes know me and unfortunately i know them to.

Ive only just started to re-discover my inner hippy and need help letting it all out!

How do you guys do it?And is there anyone else who is young and themself?

    much love

i feel EXACTLY the same way you do, i am 15 and i want to wear all my hippie clothes, lol and i did when i was like 12, sadly it was an embarrasing time, i wish i could say with all truth that i dont care what others think of me, but sometimes i get very paranoid, and living in a supposedly open minded town... london, is no better then a small village, but i am going to go live in scotland near findhorn, that alternative village, so it should be ok up there. i guess all we can do while we are young is subtly wear things that symbolize our hippiness, not to much to make eyes stare, but not to little so that we look like everyone else. i hope that oneday people wont always make fun of people who wear slightly different clothes from them.

good luck and know that there are others like you out there!

    blessings xxx

Hey there Retro - Hippy; Allow me extend the welcome mat….I know what it’s like to be a newcomer….You don’t really know what to say or how to act…. Read some of the threads so you can get the gist of what topics are being discussed….When you feel comfortable jump right in and get your feet wet…. Nobody here is going to "Flame" you, that just isn’t tolerated here (unless it’s necessary) lol…. We get some assholes here who just want to stir up bad vibes.…From what I’ve found so far is that we are one big family with many brothers and sisters….Once again the doors open come on in, open up your heart and mind, put on some groovy tunes, kick back and stay awhile….Peace, Love & Great Big Hugs, DDR

Stop being so worried about what others think ~ just do what your heart desires. If others judge, well, let them :)

    hello retro hippy.
i used to be the same way. my parents thoguht iw as going through a phase but i got over what people think. people are beautiful becasue they are what they are not what people want them to be. when i had dreads i would get rude comments at the grocery store, some people are just too stuck up. im glad you now wear your style with pride.
    peace and love.

My daughter is also 16..I have raised them to be themselves and dress how they feel. You might find out that you might dress different but if their your true friends they be with you no matter. My daughter has a friend name Vada Jo..the only way we can describe Vada is She's just Vada but she has a heart of gold. Some people think she's strange but honestly my daughter considers her one of her very best friends and theres a group of 15 of them due to be into Goth and honestly they all defend her if anyone says anything bad. One pic is my daughter and one is Vada and you'll see their different as two peas in a pod but they enjoy life being themselves. So get on the clothes you want, believe in what you want and be yourself. You'll find the ones who understand will take notice and be around...TC

If anyone gives you a weird look,
just smile at them and it might just change how they feel about you. ^_^
