I was playing cards when I thought of that old Jimmy Dean song Big Bad John. And here it is: Now when he gets to the part where they have to rescue Big John from the mine cave in Jimmy says they started back down into the mine with Jacksontimbers. I have been wondering for 60 years what a Jacksontimber was. Yesterday it dawned on me, it was jacks AND timbers! Whew, that's a load off my mind.
when that song was so popular they were playing it on am radio all the time, this had to be sometime back in the very early 60s, or late 50s, people go so tired of it thay started calling a big bad john a double decker outhouse. jacksontimbers could be a used as a name for a character or even someone's acting name. like there is that guy timberlake. which is also the name of a company that delivers those bottles of medical compressed air, like scuba air, which would of course be useful in a mine. such are the underground pathways of my mind.
I had a revelation today! I believe in the Biblical account of creation. Here's the revelation: Adam and Eve were the only people who had NO BELLY BUTTONS!
well i don't buy that, because sapient life has as many forms as there are worlds it has evolved on, that if we looked like a god we would all be invisible, because if a god needed a physical form to exist, would it even be a god. the unknown is of course unknown, but if we go out into the rest of the universe with the attitude it was all created just for our own human species, it is we who will be the little alien monsters trying to invade everyone else. the evil of the doctrine of discovery all over again. if there is justice in this universe, we will NOT ultimately prevail, but instead, learn to accept that the place of our species in it, is no greater nor lesser, then that of every other sapient species on every world one has evolved on, no two alike in appearance nor means of biological reproduction.
I am familiar with such ideas, as a Dr Who fan, but cannot look at the world and the sky without feeling that everything I see is a product of intelligent design and not random chance. In my heart, I believe that God exists and created all things. Although I am sure He made mankind in His own image, this doesn't mean that we LOOK like God, but that man is representative of Him. Man was perfect, but God gave us free will, and when sin entered the world, this image was disfigured. But He still loves His now imperfect children, and gave His Son, Jesus, the ability to offer His life as a ransom to redeem mankind. If we accept the gift of salvation, our perfection will be restored after death. This I believe, and always will. I don't think we have any business leaving the planet we were put upon. Are there other worlds, and other life forms? Maybe. I don't know. Perhaps after Adam and Eve screwed things up here, God tried again elsewhere. Maybe there's a world where things stayed in perfection! But I believe that we are, in God's sight, worthy of His love and worth saving. All we have to do is accept His love and forgiveness. I have done this, and am not afraid He will, I am sure, never abandon any of His children who do.
