I most definitely got them from the kids at school before I stopped working there!!!! How gross, I hadn't had lice in years, I think I was 8 last time I got any!

So I spent an entire day putting vinegar and chemicals in my hair to kill them and their eggs off.. and electric comb.. and apparently they're all gone, even the eggs, and it was a fucking MISSION with my hair.

I'm ultra-paranoid now and don't go out around kids without tying my hair and I have lavender oil behind my ears.

How horrible.. I KNEW something was wrong with my hair, I even went to the doctor to get it checked for lice a month ago and she said there wasn't anything, but it was so itchy and I had all these red dots on my scalp like bites.. finally 2 days ago I was shampooing my hair and what do I find.. huge scream, oh the horror.

We disinfected the entire house, boiled all the clothes..

They should all be gone or dead but just in case there's still live eggs bleaching my hair soon will definitely kill them off. But they are all gone apparently. But still. I'm very grossed-out and paranoid.

It wasn't as bad as this one time when I was little and got a ton of lice - we only found 14 - not hundreds of them, thankfully.

I got crabs twice when I was in Korea. One of those times I was in the Army hopital in Seoul. Consider yourself lucky you had only a few head lice.

that sucks. hasn't it been a while since you worked at the school? seems strange that there would be so few for so long.

then again, i don't know anything about lice reproduction. maybe it always takes a long time to fully set in.

well kids carry them around a lot. I'm really afraid of primary schools. I got them one time at 6, then another time, BAD, at 8, I remember my mom freaking out and crying.. and then this time. It's really usually kids that get them, unless you're in prison or the army!

They love clean hair btw so if you think they only go on filthy people - that's definitely not true. So no I'm not filthy.

Well there were a TON of eggs - the reason why there were so few lice would be that shampooing my hair would kill most of them off - but new ones would be born between shampoos every 2 or 3 days..

    Well that’s disgusting

My sister used to get them every year at summer camp, I’ve never did because my parents were insistent that I maintain a buzz cut throughout the summer [IMG]

I am so traumatized, I keep having my sister and mom check my hair every 5 mins cause I feel stuff moving in it but there's nothing.

That reminds me of me when I found some big spider in my room and then I must check the whole room and look for "the rest of the spider's family..." Like every 10 minutes...

    Don't worry, I'm sure they're all gone. :)

Lice...another reason why it's great that I only wash my hair twice a week. I was down to once during the summer but the grease at work hangs in the air a bit thicker in the winter and my hair gets nasty quicker.

gross. I am so glad I managed to never catch lice, even as a kid. I don't know how, considering the amount of hair I had and I never kept it up.

I did however, I believe, have fleas just a few months back when I was homeless. That was gross.

Did you have to throw away your pillows and stuff?
