today i was smoking a cigarette right near a no smoking sign so a cop came and wrote me up a warning. i gave him all my real information (addreess, phone number, etc.) except for my name which i changed and my age which i extended by one year. will this come to bight me in the ass? did i just get myself in more trouble than i should have? help me out if you can, im from toronto in canada.

well its wrong to give false info they just ask ur name and stuff to check if ur in the system. its not gonna come back to haunt u ever theres way worse stuff that happens in toronto other then smokeing

Yeah, it was kind of stupid to give him all of your real information except for your name and age. Now if he tries to background check you or tell your parents you are even more fucked.

wtf, why would you give him half real half false info? thats retarded, your not gonna get in trouble for smoking a cigerette. he wrote you up a WARNING.

if he decides to call your house or background check you then you might get in trouble for being dishonest. if he doesnt then your fine.

Remember, a policeman has no right to demand
your name and address if he just walks up to you
and further still you do not have to empty your
pockets either if he forces you to do so.

Say, I do not agree to be searched and I do not
agree to be asked for my name and address.
This will help you out if things get taken further.

However, sometimes it pays to play ball especially
if he was only giving you a warning for something
    minor.

i definately realize there are better ways i could have dealt with the situation. my main question, however, is do any of you think that the cop will bust me for lying to him? is there any chance that theyre gonna come to my door or call my parents over this? im really nervous so if any of you have been in a similar situation and got out of it, please try and calm my paranoia!

well, it all depends how suspicious of you the officer was. If it was jsut a routine stop to tell you to put your cig out and give you a warning then he prolly wont waste his time. did he seem like a big asshole? was he especially pissed off at you? all things to ask yourself.

I got all that shit taking down before. All I did was have the phone off the hook the whole next day, and he just left a message. Which then I of coarse deleted.

I think that you are safe because it was just a warning...lucky you didn't lie and end up with a ticket that you had to appear in court on...that would suck explaining to the judge who you really are.

    Truth = Good Karma

I'm not sure about in Canada, but in the US it's illegal to lie to a cop.
