well, shes 6mos. and i adopted her from the Humane Society. Her name is Kaya and she is seriously the best dog ever. She's really smart, obediant, loving, fun, and mellow.. and gets along great with my cats and other dogs and people! I feel so happy to have her in my life Plus she looks sooo cool, like a little wild dog! They said she's a Coonhound mix, but who knows.. http://photos-630.ll.************/photos-ll-sf2p/v132/137/42/30900630/n30900630_30304666_4176.jpg http://photos-630.ll.************/photos-ll-sf2p/v132/137/42/30900630/n30900630_30304668_4625.jpg http://photos-630.ll.************/photos-ll-sf2p/v132/137/42/30900630/n30900630_30304669_4858.jpg
Glad you adopted a puppy. But be aware she's part pit, that's the only way she could end up with a brindle coat like that. You will have to be a responsible owner and make sure she receives exercise and proper discipline. Start watching the Dog Whisperer. And perhaps sign up for a local obedience course.
awww shes soo beautiful!! it must be so fun having a puppy! i adopted mine when they were adults, ive never had a puppy. actually, there are several breeds of dog that can have brindle colouring and even if she is part pitbull, there is absolutly no reason to "be aware" unless she has been abused and is fearful and agresseive (and she certainly doesnt sound that way). i have a shepard cross who was abused and agressive when we got him. any breeed of dog can end up like that and pitbulls can be the sweetest family dogs ever. anyway, congrats on your new friend!
I only mentioned it because pits and pit/crosses are powerful dogs and if not raised properly can become a risk to humans and other animals. I would say the same thing about any powerful breed.
Aww she looks lovely well done for adopting her and not buying her from a breeder YAY you Hope you have many happy years together
thanks for the replies update- she loves to ride in the car (doesn't make a sound!), she went swimming at the beach for the first time and loved it, and shes a great hiker. i couldnt be happier!!!! she also loves to snuggle and crawls into my lap (she thinks she's tiny-haha) gardener- i see your point but i really dont think she's got pitt in her. There's alot of pitts around here (LOTS) and she's not really built like one... lots of other dogs have brindle, including boxers and alot of dogs in the hound group. everyone is telling me to check out the Dog Whisperer, i will have to do that! the vet told me she thinks that Kaya is a "Mountain Cur", a type of hound. who knows though. these are some pics i googled: cur w/tail cliipped
In the photographs, she's not much to look at. But give her unconditional love and it will be returned. She will be your best friend for life. In the meantime, do not neglect your other dogs mentioned. I'm a one dog man, and I couldn't conceive of sharing my life with more than the dog whose owned me for five years, Maximilian the husky.
Not much to look at? i think you're crazy she's adorable and has a cool pattern.. if you read my post youd see those other dogs are not mine. Those were pics i googled to show an example of the type of dog i think she might be... i only have one dog. your husky is cute! i thought i wanted to get a husky, but i saw Kaya at the pound and she was just so cute and loving.. couldnt pass her up. John i'm glad you love her too!!!! She loves love
