because it feels great and makes you feel free! and some of the looks that you get from people are hilarious, you can just see their thought processes!
I agree with ALL of the options, but none of them are my main reason. I actually feel really uncomfortable when my feet heat up so unless I'm barefoot I can't really function as well.
Bummer! Someone was faster with the reply I wanted to give... As for that poll, I am among those to whom all answers apply. Wiggling happy bare toes, ~*Ganesha*~
I got barefoot all day when I'm around the house. But see, I live in a conservative town in Arizona (not my choice), and have to wear shoes out in public establishments. But I do wear sandals, open toed high heels, and flip-flops a lot though (that's just as close to being barefoot I can go when I'm in a public place). I leave my sneakers at home and only use them when I go jogging, take long walks, or just working out.
I reckon there are a lot of things you could do barefoot. You'll be ok barefoot in public places. It's only private establishments that can actually tell you what to wear. Certainly no-one can stop you going jogging barefoot, or going for walks. You might get told to put shoes on when you go into certain places, but not everywhere, and you don't have to go in anywhere where they're rude to you.
I'm not sure any of the categories really define my reasons for going barefoot. Here's my history (some of you may have read this elsewhere in this forum, so sorry for the repetition). I was always self-conscious about my feet when I was a kid and was a bit envious of other kids who went barefoot all summer. About five years ago I had corrective surgery (see my Profile). That improved the appearance of my feet and made my toes pain-free (thus my name "StraightToes"). As a result, I started making up for lost time. About 1-1/2 years ago I started working from home. That freed me to be barefoot unless I'm traveling for business meetings. It was at that time that I started regularly going places barefoot. Once I started and realized there was negligible resistance, I got more adamant about going out in my bare feet.
I picked the health one. I don't go barefoot as much as all of you but I am more comfortable that way. A few years ago I was always wearing shoes. My feet started to hurt and and get sort of contorted. I stopped wearing shoes so much and now the pain is gone. I don't think shoes are natural!
i hate shoes. i am more conected with the earth without them. what gives someone the right to make me wear shoes?
Same here, back in my teen years I always wanted to be the one who went barefoot during ther summer months. My feet looked fine though, nice to know I was not alone with these thoughts. Now I too try to make up for lost time. It just feels great!
For me it's the stimulation of the different surfaces. I love the feel of different surfaces under my feet, it wakens my whole body. It's good to get the contrast of textures, too, like the cool floor of a shop after going barefoot on hot asphalt, or soft grass after walking on gravel.
