Fried, with melted butter, onions, and sour cream.

Greetings from the country of pierogies! I love them too. With mushrooms and cabbage, spinach, cheese and onion, cherries... whatever.

Hello! Sometimes for convenience we buy frozen pierogies – but the ones I love are the home made ones from the wife. Usually potatoes and cheese with fried onions and bacon. When I was a kid my Polish father would call them pierogies and my Ukrainian mom would call them petahay – ether way they were great. Cheers!

Not that this is the healthiest way to eat 'em but for years in my family, we did what you do, fry them up and serve with sour cream. But instead of melted butter, we used bacon fat. Yep, true story. Fry up a pan full of bacon, take the bacon out, and toss in the pierogies with a bit of salt to fry up in what was left behind. Yum.

A couple ways I've done perogies (vereniki where my family is from)

perogies fried up and with onions and garlic then when almost done add in sour cream and paprika, salt&peper to taste. Love this way, great sauce for pork chops too.

Also baked with tomato sauce, garlic, basil and mozza cheese like a lasanga.

    Yum I love perogies!

I was planning on getting a big plate of various polish food (including perogies!) at this local fair in September, but I kept putting it off. The lines were too big, I wasn't hungry enough, I wanted something else at the moment. Etc., etc until the opportunity had passed and the stand was closed.

It may be too late for me, but for the rest of you: eat your perogies where and when you find them!
