i did 6 hours of massage today, and was given a 45 dollar tip. it feels awesome.

how did you get into doing it as a job? do you work at a spa or out of your place or what?

 

cate - yes, i've gotten used to it. when i finished school i could do 3 in a day. then i started working, and i got stronger. my hands actually don't get as tired as my arms do. i use my elbows and forearms and stuff so it's not just my hands. and if someone's obese, they still get massaged. i just generally don't go lifting their arms and legs to do stretches. and just the other day i massaged a guy whose back looked like it was covered in a thick mat of pubes. you just kind of... do it.

priss - i went to school for it. in california it's really easy to get certified. it took 2 months of class and 50 hours of practical experience. and then i got hired. i work for massage envy, which is like, a membership massage club spa kind of thing. when we moved out here to california, i couldn't find a job in the field i had been working in, so i was interested in massage, and it just worked out that massage is a big thing around here. it just kind of... happened!

i used to live next door to a freelance masseuse; he gave me a free massage so he could practice. well, that's what he told me; i honestly think it was just a ruse to get me to let him rub me...

and inspiring. I'm actually going to school for massage therapy this coming fall and i'm not really getting alot of support or encouragement from my family or friends. They all think i'm either not actually going to go through with it or I won't be able to find a job because of the economy (like anyone else will be able to either) or some other unknown reason, i dunno.
but that's cool that it only took you two months. my program is five semesters! There's a three semester one too, for a diploma, but the five semester one is for a degree and you learn more stuff.

awesome, telephone! congrats! yeah, that's part of the reason i never did massage before, because that's just a long time to be in school, lol. i'm sorry you're not getting a lot of support... i'll support you. it's a great career, it's lots of fun, and it's pretty relaxing as far as jobs go. and i'm sure you'll find a job somewhere, or start your own successful practice. something will work out for you if you're committed to it.

yes, of course i massage feet. i massage everything but ass crack, genitals and boobies. at least when i'm being paid.

i like to trade massage for weed.
