Why did America elect George Bush?He got the most votes ever in a US election. This is hard for the rest of the world to understand because 78% of us disslike America. Why does America support someone who does not care about the enviroment? Why does Americas support a president who lies so he can go to war?Why does America support a president who has had the lowest IQ out of all the American presidents? Under George Bush the world evolution is illegal in Canzas. The rest of the world is very different from America.

Kerry got the second most votes ever in a U.S. election. It's because the U.S. population is bigger and a higher than normal percentage of people voted in the 2004 election.

It's unusual for a president to get re-elected with a 48% job approval rating like Bush. I don't think any other U.S. president has been re-elected with that low of a rating. Bush lowered the standards as far as that goes.

If it weren't for the 911 sentiment, Bush wouldn't have had a chance getting back in.

Nixon wasn't all that popular, yet he got re-elected with a 61% to 38% margin over McGovern, far better than Bush's slim 51/48. If I remember correctly, Nixon's job approval rating was somewhere around 53% just prior to his re-election.

People keep saying if it wasn't or 9/11 Bush would've never won, if it wasn't for 9/11, Bush would've won in a landslide, there would've been no Afghanistan or Iraq and basically nothing but a few tax bills and the no child left behind act, that would've been the whole 4 years right there. Think about it, what did Bush do before 9/11, only thing in the news were the tax and no child left behind acts in congress. Really, if not or 9/11 this would've been the most boring but still the funniest president term ever.

One of the things that helped him win was a backlash among evengelicals to the recent gains made gay rights movement and the so called declining morals of america. Evangelicals are a very powerful force in getting out the vote. In several states there were measures on the ballot that criminalized gay marriage and acording to some polls, people came to the polls first to vote yes on those amendments and second to vote for the president. Another factor was the youth vote that contrary to expectations, did not get out and vote. As for your questions, many americans have been decieved by corporate owned "scientists" into not caring about the environment either. Our media here is very sensationalist and there are some who still mistakenly believe that there were weapons of mass destruction and interpret the anti-war movement as being anti-american. The president has a great deal of charisma and his aparent lack of intelligence comes across as being in touch with middle america. Despite being a Yale graduate and a child of millionaires, he acts like he was raised on a farm. Finally evolution in schools is a state level issue, the feds don't have control over that aspect of Kansas.

My point was that many people felt obligated to vote for Bush because of the 911 sentiment (not just because 911 happened). Without that sentiment, he wouldn't have gotten back in with all the mess that he created in the aftermath of 911.

It's hard to say what would have happened without 911. I agree it would have been a boring administration, with Bush making visits to Florida and Texas and reading to gradeschool kids. It would have likely been an administration similar to Carter and Bush Sr. That doesn't imply that he would have been re-elected in a landslide.

you should have included an option: not only no but hell no! just to see how many of us would have said that and not just no.

as for how could and or did it happen, the thread "kerry threw the election", seems to have what may or may not be the whole answer but at the very least some part, and i suspect a very large part, of it.

    Yes. Straight up -- again.

    Well.

I would say he HALF WAY stole it and HALF WAY kerry just gave it to him. Either way -- there is no true democracy in the U.S. anymore.

We really need to take our country back.

Also, most americans are idiots because we believe the TV is our God and we're losing our humanity as a whole.
