I dislike being a lesbian because...

I want to create a child with the woman I love. I know this is impossible. I am so envious of straight couples who are able to produce a child, a product in the flesh of the love they share. I wish more than anything that my girlfriend and I could have a child that is genetically OURS. It's very frustrating to me and I know we can adopt and I will unconditionally love our child but it's just not the same as being to say "Oh honey, she's got your eyes and my nose!".

 

Hopefully some day your dream of having a child with the one you love will become a reality. The science of today is close to such a thing. the X and Y chromosomes of your genetics my one day give us the answer to the problem that plagues couples such as yourself.

Being a male I have no clue what your going through, but you will be in my prayers.

 

i guess that's the big drawback to being gay... never veing able to create a child with your partner that is completely yours.

as the above poster said, hopefully this will change in the future.

That's a big downside. Hopefully one day they can combine mothers' genetics or something. I know it would mean so much to a lesbian couple.

 

i have this idea in my head, ok, more like a fantasie, i find my perfect woman, my soul mate, we start going out, we live togather, we buy a house togather in the highlands, she is scottish, we have a mutual male friend who is scottish, ( i love scotland and im abit scottish) he agrees to be our sperm doner, we both get pregnant, so when we have our children, they will be half siblings, so we will be bonded by blood. call it whatever you like, that is what i would like to happen in an ideal world

no way i see this as a great thing! gay folks cant have kids untill they are 100% ready, as opposed to straight folks who pop out babies when they dont even need them or can take care of them, so there are millions of kids that are getting abused or neglected or in the system or any combination of those.

so sure your kids might not have your eyes or nose, but they will have a family that loves and nurtures them instead of floating around the system all lost and confused and stuff.

 

Here's a suggestion that may be better than nothing. Become artificially inseminated with the semen of one of your partner's blood relatives. It may be kinda creepy, but the baby would have both your genes and your partner's genes. I don't know. Just a thought.

I know exactly what you mean! I really wanna someday fall in love, get married, to a woman.....and then get pregnant and have a baby. Its so complicated thinking about how to go about it...sperm donor? Do I want some strange guys sperm? I dunno.

On the bright side though, no worries of unplanned pregnancies

 

I realize this thread has been sort of dead for a few months, but I couldn't resist spreading the word: new studies in creating stem cells (since Bush banned embryonic stem cell research) have revealed a way to create sperm out of a woman's bone marrow. Now, the sperm is not fully developed, but further research is figuring out how to fix that. So someday soon it may be possible for lesbian couples to have genetic children. It would also be possible for a woman to inseminate herself, strange as that sounds. Perhaps someday men will be obsolete .

 

I'm not sure I would want to do that, when I meet the women of my dreams I want to have children with her using sperm donation, but even that seems pretty unatural, and I like doing things the natural way.

creating sperm from a women, it just reminds my of how people say in the future we can choose the sex of our children, eye and hair colour ect, I think we should limit ourselves in "playing goddess", oneday we could find a way to choose the sexuality a baby, where has free will gone? If your life is chosen for you before you are even born!
maybe I am going off subject, so just basically, I personally think its an amazing idea, but too unatural in my view.
