by that i mean, to someone's face. saying "oh, what you believe in isn't true." i know A LOT of people that do this. even when the religious person isn't rubbing it in anyone's face. someone's religion and beliefs are nobody else's business but that person's, unless they want to share. if it makes you happy, and you aren't hurting or judging anyone, then it's noone else's place to say anything

I can't stand religious looking down on people, disrespecting people, etc.
Which is WAY more common, but often regarded much less offensive.

i know alot of religious people who haven't tried to convert someone or haven't judged someone just for not believing the same thing. people only notice and acknowledge the ones who do, and it makes the rest look bad. it's a stereotype

I thought stuff like the bible actively told people to go out and preach spread the word of god etc, some people just don't follow the bible.

It's not really a stereotype it's what i thought a proper religious person is supposed to do (it's in the book)

    correct me if i'm wrong.

If religious people wanna say i'm wrong they can do that all they like, infact i'd quite enjoy a little debate here and there it's good for ya. If you can't handle to be told you're wrong then you're living in the wrong world and need to grow up.

But it is fine for religious people to say that to others? I actually can't stand people telling me I will go to Hell for not believing in Jesus.

With me, if people don't try and shove their beliefs down my throat, I will not say anything to them in return. Sometimes I like debating on religious ideas, but often leave it when their forceful beliefs get too much for me.

Bullshit, it's something that's just plain common. No one thinks that all religious people go missionary.
Just like there are a lost of missionary atheists, but few think that all atheists do that.

Idk, I view every religion as being fake stories to live your life by so it doesn't really matter which set of stories someone believes in because the point of religion isn't the fairy tale but the message

That's why the Jehovah's and Mormons come up to me randomly begging me to convert? :)

I respect all religions but when someone comes up to me and tells me my beliefs are wrong because I don't believe in the bible, that's when there's a problem. When someone comes up to me telling me that I HAVE TO believe in Jesus, I have a problem. And the Christians who aren't open to the fact that there ARE other religions make me sick.

Yep. It's strange how one group will preach to you all day and tell you that you are wrong, but then really take offence when someone tells them that they are wrong. Not all religious folk are like that, but the ones that are are sometimes enough to put me off.

lol, I wouldn't really compare scientology to something more like christianity. I've definitely been in churches where they didn't hassle you for cash. Besides, scientologists are some of the nastiest peices of scum on the planet and I would eagerly go to jail for stabbing one in the face

There are a lot of valid points here.

I don't like people being disrespectful of religion either. I think opinions are fine as are beliefs. Which is precisely why people who follow religions should have the exact same respect for those who don't.

No, I don't want Bible bashers shoving 'Jesus loves you' pamphlets down my throat and then telling me I'm going to hell because I refuse to take it. If I want to read a holy book then I'll pick one up and look at it myself. That said, I'm not going to stand there and openly say a religion is a pile of bull because hell is incredibly unrealistic.

You shut your face and I'll shut mine.

If someone isn't trying to force their belief system down your throat, and you tell them what they believe in isn't true or you think it's disgusting. Then you are forcing your beliefs on them, ....so how is that any different then a missionary?

I'm not sure why all the focus is on Christian beliefs, the O.P simply said religion and that could mean Buddhism,Taoism,Hinduism,or any religion.
