I can't figure out why Christians and conservatives still oppose gay marriage. For one thing, chosing to marry is usually something more traditional and religious people would do. Only about half of Americans choose to marry now. And when people marry it's usually, as I said, for a more formal, legal commitment. And also to build a family and create a relationship for emotional support.

Also homosexuality really isn't a choice. It seems to be due to something like hormonal programing in the uterus. If you want to accept you LGBTQ son or daughter and you still want a family, why don't allow him to build a family this way?

Because I know Christians say that their religion forbids it. But the book of Corinthians also says you can't marry anyone who is not of your faith and you can't marry a woman who is menstruating. The Bible also endorses things like slavery and banishment and stoning for adultery. Plus it says the world is flat (yes, it does). And as far as legislating your one faith. You know about that, I am on a diet now due to my Type II Diabetes. So I don't want any of you eating cake.

I think the bible says a lot that may have had some relevance in years gone by, but which has no relevance now.

People who believe in superstition that justifies rape, slavery, genocide, and child sexual abuse based entirely upon a Bronze-Age anthology of mythology prefaced by a fairy tale of about a talking snake with a magic apple in an enchanted garden don't get to be the final arbiter of morality for the rest of us.
    FULL FUCKING STOP!

Christian precepts are less important than supporting our fellow citizens in life.

I was also going to say about gay people supporting gay marriage tending to be more conservative. They also tend to be more conservative in their morals that way and more religious too. I've heard people say homosexuality is condemned by the Bible. (Actually, not that anyone cares. But homosexual acts are all that is condemned by the Bible. The term homosexual wasn't coined till the 1890s. And the Bible doesn't say anything directly about gay marriage. Or pornography, either. Which is interesting because they did have both back then.)

The views of the Bible, just like the views of the constitution is evolving. For the same reason, it has to, things have changed so much. Plus as I've said if you give people the power to define others' beliefs and religious practice you give them that same power over you.

Because they're bigots. And bigots can't stand the idea, let alone the action of live-and-let-live.

So just to round off what I was saying. Homosexuality is not a choice, and you can't change it according to science at least. (It's caused by complex mix of biological, genetic, and environmental factors, like hormonal programming in the brain, I just read on Google.) Medical treatments and gay conversions are not only pointless, but also possibly harmful. It just seems to me if your son or daughter is gay and your family is more conservative leaning, and you still want him to be part of it, allowing him to have a gay marriage would be the only choice. Instead of blaming him or her for something he has no control over, and losing a member of your family that way and by disowning him.

I am not one of those people. For what it's worth, you do you... I'll do me, but I've always thought it's a product of the q-tip generation that won't move on and their religious influence. I think if you replaced every person in Gove over 60 with someone 40 it wouldn't be an issue. I kind of equate it to smoking in the sense that it's a huge change and it would take a generational turnover to change and another generation or 2 to flush the pipes out. Also, please don't take my saying that as me saying gay marriage is anything like smoking.
