I have nothing to do. I'm so bored and feel like there's nothing in life to look forward to.
I recently moved to Texas after not having any friends for three years because I have a few here. Well, they live about 20 mins away and it's kind of hard to get together on a weeknight with college and all. Now, when I come home to my apartment I don't even have my mom or sister to talk to or do something that can keep me occupied. I just have my beloved dog and a deaf roommate.

I've been procrastinating for years and I can't do it anymore. Weed is boring to me now, and I just get on the xbox or computer and have shit to do. I used to think I could do it on my own. I can't. I have hardly any friends and I just keep getting that sick depressive feeling in my stomach. What is there to look forward to? What can I fucking do?

Me and my buddies asked one another this all summer. We had our own place...we had money, we had friends (of both genders), we had drugs but there is literally nothing to do of importance in our society. Life was and still is a fucking joke. We stayed up all night every night doing coke because there was nothing better we could think of doing. Our generation has nothing to look forward to in the future ("we are gods unwanted children" - fight club) . Right now it's get a job and work 9-5 to feed yourself and pay your bills and then party or go to the bar on the weekends. The way things are going it doesn't look like things are changing too rapidly and frankly I and many others around my age are fed up with it.

I don't know what to tell you man...I live to create...painting, drawing and making music are the most productive things I can think of doing when there is nothing else to do. The 9-5 thing isn't for me so if I could support myself with the arts (not get rich) that would be amazing. It's just sad...there is literally nothing to live for right now..I think about the future all the time. I don't want a house in the suburbs or a family or a nice car. Fuck that..that's not living. I forsee myself running a grow house and selling paintings to sustain myself. Whatever you do man just remember that if you aren't happy doing it it's not worth your time, I tried the college thing twice and it wasn't for me. You have one life so live it the way you want to.

You mentioned college. That implies clubs, IM sports and other possibilites.
    Study groups? Become a tutor?

Good post man. Ayge. I wish I could think of something productive. I don't even know how to make my life be good. I think constantly traveling would be fun.

Well it's a community college and I'm taking just graphic design courses. There's not really in study or practice I need to get in. I guess I can see if they have any activities.

    When the world never seems
to be living up to your dreams
it's time you started finding out
    what everything is all about
You take the good, you take the bad,
you take them both and there you have
The Facts of Life, the Facts of Life.

You could wake up, realise that you're alive, have got it swell, and go out with your friends and eat 5 dried grams of mushrooms next to a pond.

That or quit depending on others to "keep you occupied".

I know, right? I was thinking, damn I got it good. I don't even have to work. I just feel empty though.

I haven't been depending on others. I'm now starting to think I need help from them.

You might want to see a doctor to see if you are depressed. Sounds like you are. Meds? Electro-convulsive therapy? Talk therapy?

Regular mild aerobic exercise can be good, 1/2 hr a day at least 5 days a week.

Try some Tai-Chi, yoga, qi gong. Or just meditation.

If you sit in a chair in a room with the lights on and just close your eyes and try to keep your mind empty. Sounds like it would be really easy, but it's fucking hard. I've heard if you can do this like 1/2 hr, hr per day it has lots of benefits over time.

Maybe take a break from smoking, see if it refreshes you.

It seems like if you develop a general level of interest, and search for a community to become engaged in, you'll feel a lot better.

    Get a dog.

My neighbor walks his like 75 times a day. He said his blood pressure has gone down, and he is much happier now since he got it.

Mine didn't go as well. Its skeletal remains are still by the door, waiting to go out. (kidding)

ahhh, what an age old question. happiness in life is a very complex and individual task to tackle...here's what keeps me stoked on life.

I'm going to school for a degree that is pretty open ended and involves critical thinking and less busy work. the first 2 years of a bachelor degree sucks ass, it's reality. it's the third and fourth year that are stimulating and exciting.
ART!!! drawing, painting, alot of music, and looking to the world for inspiration to recreate. it could be something as simple as the background on hipforums, the way a tree is nestled next to a pond, or some crazy fractals i saw in my last trip.
but sometimes art is too much because i need to take a break from my mind, not dive deeper inside it. that's when i jump on my mountain bike, skateboard, snowboard, motorcycle, or (insert anything else that's adrenaline inducing) and go rally hard. one of the best things i can do after a stressful day is jump on my bike, go fast, feel the wind in my hair, watch the blur in my peripherals. hit a kicker and float through the air, enjoy that temporary weightless feeling, and bask in the flow of a smooth landing, always trying to go faster, jump higher, and turn harder. improve my skills, which is in itself is gratifying.
and having hobbies like these is a great way to connect to people, people who are passionate about what they do, which typically in turn means passionate about life.
The bottom line, is find something to get stoked on, and go get stoked :)

Part of the reason I'm depressed I think is because I rolled this past weekend. I've still felt these feelings recently though and I don't want pills to deal with it. I like the idea of exercising. I take my dog on walks, but I think I may want to start actually working out. Meditation is another great idea.

I know it's a bit to read but hey I feel that i am offering some good information.

Take up exercising? you a big guy or skinny guy? I recommend you try to get a gym membership. Come up with a workout plan and then go there when your bored and lift hard for an hour or two. Then if you have access to a pool you should Swim some laps after your work out.

Exercise helps a person mentally just as much as physically. After a good work out, relaxing at your pad will never sound better. Exercise helps take away depression, anger, and boredom.

I also recommend running at least a mile 2 times a week. Even a fat guy can run a mile. You don't have to run fast. Jogging is perfectly fine. Also try out jump roping.

Exercise may be hard at first but once you make it part of your routine it will become easier and easier and most likely will start to enjoy it. Personally I love to exercise as do many other people. Also exercise helps increase a persons mental focus. Making it easier to concentrate on school work, cooking, laundry, dishes, and basically any task. Working out keeps you in the zone. Sitting around the house playing video games and watching tv makes your mental focus decrease.

ALSO TRY THIS OTHER STUFF OUT :

-Do you like bowling? join a bowling club. you can meet people and bowl.

    - umm cards? join a card playing club.

-video games? video game club and play video games against everyone in the club. you like halo? have a couple guys bring over their tv's and do a 16/16 LAN against each other.

Chess, Checkers, or board game clubs.

Sign up for a boxing or brazilian jui-jitsu class. Fun and you get to learn how to defend yourself. bjj=submission such as chokes and armlocks n such. i don't reccomend karate or kung fu. if you wanna train kicking just do kickboxing.

As long as your involved in some activity not smoking is very easy.

Do you like guns? Find out about local shooting ranges. wanna meet other people who like guns? look around for a gun club.

Clubs are cool because you get to meet people who like doing the same activities as you and socialize and make new friends.

    Learn how to do something

-learn how to make beats on a computer program

-Learn to play a guitar or other instrument

    -Learn how to fix cars

Reading fiction books. I am sure there are movies out there you find interesting. Well then there is for sure going to be plenty of books you will find interesting. If you actually take the time to read into some books you will find how entertaining it actually is. some books can start out slow and boring but then next thing you know your hooked and you keep wanting to read it to find out what happens next.

Your life is fine man. Just appreciate the opportunity to relax, because that opportunity won't always be there. Relax, keep your mind clear, and be you. You'll make friends. You just have to be there for a little while and you'll begin to make friends naturally. You can't force friends, but after you're there for a while, you'll find a friend here and there. You just can't give up on your social life. If you wanna make friends, just keep getting out there and don't shut yourself up inside your apartment or whatever. You can't be afraid to put yourself into social situations, if you really want to make friends.
