I pay something like $3.69 for the 16 oz. cans. The stuff isn't even that strong, but I am addicted to that hard-to-describe sweet and sour flavor it has. I drink about one 16 oz. can every day when I wake up in the evening (I sleep during the day because I work nights). That's almost $30 a week on a stupid drink marketed to idiots dumb enough to spend that kind of money. There is an energy drink called 'Cocaine', which is pretty hard to find because of its "controversial" name, but a can half the size of the 16.oz Red Bull contains almost TWICE the caffeine as the 16 oz. Red Bull, and is only about $2 a can.
I don't know. The flavor seems like an acquired taste, then after time it becomes almost addicting. It's really strange. Sometimes my paranoid mind has to wonder if they're not putting something addictive in it other than caffeine -- something that will make people spend the ridiculous amount of money it costs.
It does? Where did you hear that? What ingredient in it destroys the liver? I know high fructose corn syrup, which is found in most beverages, can damage the liver, but Red Bull (the regular version) is sweetened with glucose. In fact, one of the reasons I stopped drinking soda is because I learned that large amounts of HFCS basically makes the liver fatty and cirrhotic.
It's because of all the caffeine and stuff. Your body can't filter it all. http://www.livestrong.com/article/408524-are-energy-drinks-bad-for-your-liver/
Wow...Pressed Rat, he was on here when I joined this site 10 years ago as a 15 year old kid (I had another user name when I joined). I think he's the only person on here I remember from so long ago...lol. I only ever drink Red Bull if I am going out a to a club and know I will be out all night...because it will keep me up all night. I think they go hand in hand with a lot of people who work nights, though. My mum and brother both work nights as well and take Red Bull or V (Mum takes a nice little sleeping pill 12 hours previously in the morning before she goes to bed, too).
Damn, you make me sound old. I'm only four years older than you. Anyway, yeah, I've been here (in its many incarnations) since 1999 -- my senior year of high school. And to think I've come so far.....LOL!!!!!! When I first came to Hipforums there were only like 3 or 4 forums, and they were nothing like these type of forums. This was before forums even existed, I think. I have known the Hipforums for 12 years. That is scary.
I find redbull tastes nasty and doesn't really do much to keep me awake. When I need a caffeine boost that coffee can't handle, I drink NOS... lot's of caffeine in those. lately though, i've been trying to cut back on caffeine because it makes me way more likely to have anxiety attacks.
bombs are good shots for a long night of drinking. other than that, if i need an artificial energy boost i go for the energy shots. i'm too lazy to carry around a drink for 15 minutes, i'd rather just slurp down my 1.5 ounces and get on with my day. my life is saved, thank the lord!
I can't do those energy drinks...they make me panic. But I used to drink a lot of redbull back when I was living with my roommate/best friend because we'd run ourselves ragged with partying every night. I only got bad effects from it. Maybe check online to see if you can buy cases of something cheaper? I've heard of people doing that and getting much better prices than in the stores. Or what about those 5 hour energy drinks?
Red Bulls makes me vomit. Alcohol makes me vomit. Yet I can drink Jagger Bombs all night and not vomit. *shrugs*
I used to bang away at redbull too, but now I get a whole lot more for my buck drinking coffee. The buzz is purer too. Caffeine is the only very effective thing in those, but some energy drinks contain L-Phenylanine too, which'll metabolize into dopamine and adrenaline. The other stuff helps a little too I think. B vitamins and such. I think in about two weeks of savings buying coffee over redbull, I could probably buy a gram of cocaine. Now we're talking energy!
