Hello! For the past 5 or 6 years I have been using a home made computer that I bought from my son’s friend for a $150. My son’s friend is brilliant and had rich parents so in its day it was pretty sweet and still works well to this day. But last night my older son called me and asked me if I wanted to buy his computer for $125 (and he will deliver for free) so I said yes please. Because 3 or 4 years ago it was a top of the line computer and my sons girlfriends dad has maintained it well and added a lot of memory. I will finally have a CD burner and my son’s (almost) father in law is going to wipe out the old operating system and install a new one Windows 2000. He is also going to split the hard drive for me. In truth I am excited about getting a new computer but because I kind of fear change I am a little scared. (I still listen to vinyl records) Cheers!

    Windows 2000 is O.K...:)
    I came from Windows 95 to 98..
    now run on Windows 2000..
    I have a CD rom,split harddisks,software enough..
one does not need 100 Gigabyte to run a P.C. smoothly..
it needs a bit of investigation..before one gets used..
to the technology..but..I'll stick to Windows 2000..:)

I am really a fan of neither. I run XP and it has run the best for me out of anything

He he he... you haven't been introduced to the friendly neighborhood Linux yet, right? it takes a little getting used to, but once you are there, you never look back at Windows.

BTW - After Windows 95, XP has been pretty good...the rest of Windows progeny was rather f'ed up.

Hello! I thank you all for the replies. I will probably get the computer this weekend. But unfortunately I will not have much time to play with it because I have tons of chores to do.(I wish I was getting a robot too) Cheers
