I need to write an essay on a modern social hypocrisy and I'm having a hard time finding something I'm really interested in writing about. I'd like to find something dealing with environmental or agricultural issues. Anyone got any good ideas? I would SOOO appreciate it! I was going to do my paper on how Walmart's slogan "save money live better" was hypocritic, but my professor wants something less well known.....lol and now I'm kinda stuck and I really need to get on it! I'm hoping to find something that I feel good about bringing to light/sharing with my fellow students~ something we otherwise may have not thought twice about... Thank you!!
Well your signature pic reminded me of national parks... That is social hypocrisy right there, they take a beautiful piece of nature and draw a line in the ground around it, say they are "preserving it" then say, "hey it's ok to ruin the land as long as it'd outside this circle." At the same time you are cutting off nearby animal communities, inhibiting migratory patterns, and drawing more and more people into the place you are trying to protect. Then they build roads and tourist attractions throughout the park... National parks look so good on paper, let's save our wilderness... but we are really just fucking it up more, if you want to save it don't build roads through it. I'm sure you can find/think of more. There is hypocrisy in everything though you just have to look at it the right way.
You could write about the failings of the public school systems. They say they want to prepare kids for the future and help them make good decisions, and yet our dropout rate is through the roof, and there are more kids strung out on Adderall because they tell their doctors that they can't concentrate. Sorry for the run-on sentence.
simple hipocrasy of students wearing school uniform. enclosed shoes for safety they say. so we represent the school and can be recognised. and yet teh teachers themselves are in mufti, they wear sandles as they tell us its unsafe. "do as i say, not as i do" i understand that they work there, but those who work in a bank have a uniform so tehy are recognised, they represent something.
Thanks guys! I actually ended up doing my paper on the cultural genocide of the Dineh (Navajo) people right here in America~ If you haven't heard of this do some research~ Our government is totally screwing these people over and no one seems to know about it!
