I just had to have my blood taken today because my doctor believes I might have this (hyperglycemia)

Anyone know anything about it? How is it treated?

Hyperglycemia means your blood sugar is too high. If this is the case it would mean you are diabetic. Depending on the severity it can be treated from anything from diet all the way up to giving yourself insulin injections.

Lots of blood sugar problems can be greatly helped by diet. Getting away from sugars of all kinds(including fruit) and refined carbohydrates in general like white flour and white rice is a good idea and instead eating whole grains, beans, vegies cooked and raw, nuts and seeds. Also try to minimize animal fats, fried foods, salt, vinegar, caffiene, alcohol and other drugs including mary jane which can really mess up your metabolism. SO many chronic diseases are just caused by imbalances from stuff that has no nutritional value and is just consumed to give an immediate feeling of satisfaction with no thought of what happens down the road.

Sorry. Sugar in any form whether natural or refined including honey, molasses or whatever is something you want to be careful with if you have a blood sugar problem. Maybe you can have occasional small treats. Foods with natural sugars like fruit definately are better because they have nutrients and fiber but they can still screw you up. I used to have a big fruit habit and I thought it was OK because it was whole foods but I stopped eating it because of another problem and some really major positive changes happened for me. Try cutting back on it for a month or so and see if it helps. And be sure you eat all those good foods I mentioned too. Like I said before, there's so many "incurable" diseases that the medical establishment will turn you inside out for with medications and tests and blah blah blah that really come down to eating right or wrong, day in and day out, real food or junk food.
PM me if you have any other questions.

Not necesarrily true, crazylegs. My dad's a type II diabetic, and his nutritionist has him on a diet plan where he eats fruit about four times a day.

I think you are mistaken-are you sure it's not hypoglycemia? Hyperglycemia is serious and is always refered to as diabetes in terminology.
Anywho, I have hypoglycemia and manage it easily with diet. My fasting blood sugas is up to 77 now from 52!

I dont know, he told me HYPER, and wrote it on the slip I had to bring to the blood testing center.

Yeah, and speaking of that, the fucking tests haven't even come back yet. If I have to go back and get it done, because they did something stupid like LOSE them, I'm going to raise hell. I'm becoming BEYOND irritated with my health, doctors, etc.

Hyperglycemia is NOT diabetes. It usually leads to diabetes but a person is not necessarily diabetic if they are hyperglycemic.
Also I think diabetics can eat sweets sometimes, they just have to be careful.. I forget exactly all that stuff...

I've researched it a lot and from what I understand there is diabetic AND non-diabetic hyperglycemia.

AND, some diabetics do NOT have hyperglycemia.

    It's kind of complicated.

I doubt I have it really, but I do wish they would tell me the fucking results at least.
