because it's been posted everywhere else on this forum. In the books, hippies, writers, random thoughts, ect. I'm surprised the mods haven't closed a few.

well, that's good. I've posted in a shitload of the hunter threads and Its just making me more sad about it.

I've never ever cried about the death of someone I hadn't met personally before this.

It's the only way for someone like him to go, though. Out with a bang, not letting anyone control his fate execpt him. It's almost beautiful if it wasn't so morbid.

because who the hell is God in Hunter's opinion to take his life?

rumors say he was getting sick and ended it himself- the way he would have wanted it.

he went out with a bang instead of getting weak and keeling over

    it fits him perfectly

I wasn't trying to sound like a dick or anything, but I think a lot of people talk about hst only cause they've seen fear and loathing in las vegas or maybe read the book and admired the fact that he did more drugs than you (the reader) ever possibly could. Obviously, because I like drugs, I am going to like stories that involve them. But the real treat about thompson is that he had the fire down below WAY before he did drugs. Pick up the proud highway, or the second one, I forget the name... it's on the floor in my room, it shows him bald smoking a cigarette from the holder.. it's just collections of letters and shit he wrote. There is a lot of material from him to soak up, and if you read enough of it you will know, the last thing thompson would want was for a bunch of degenerate hippies who buy salvation for 3 dollars a hit proclaiming how great he is. He'd probably write you a letter about how much of a naive cartoon you are, and how he would probably stuff his shotgun very far up your ass.

actually i dug where the buffalo roam, better than fear and loathing............... but probly Fear And Loathing On The Campaign Trail........... Just so you know I am not a dumb kid trying to look cool, I actually read and was a fan of his before the Fear and Loathing movie came out. "Where the buffalo roam" was made into a movie before fear and loathing and starred bill murray, ever seen it?? you should check it out if your a hunter fan!

funkyphresh.... nice, i'm glad you know shit about him, it just sucks where i'm from, there are posers everywhere.. i'm sure you know what i am talking about... yes i know about where the buffalo roam with bill murray, but the reason i liked the movie of fear and loathing a lot was due to like modern film-making technology and where the buffalo roam is kind of old. --- I love when that m-fer would get pissed and just write the most fucked up rant threatening castration and all kinds of wild shit.

I didn't really expect it either, but I came to find out he was in pain from never recovering from a broken leg as well as back surgery I believe? He was probably just in agony and sick of it. Where is the suicide note?

you know, now is really not the time to pick through people and decide who is a Hunter fan and who isn't. Everyone who is mourning him loved his work no matter which piece of work it was. How dare you bring up something like that as if you are more superior than anyone else.

I have read almost everything he has written and I have an original copy of Rum diaries. So take your nitpicking elsewhere or accept everyone and be thankful so many respect him and his work.

don't worry about it, i just can't stand when people hint around that I may not know what I am talking about... especially if it is something I am rather passionate about.
