Human overpopulation is the main problem of the world now. Thomas Malthus talked about this. He was an evil man, but his math and biology were correct. When food production increases arithmetically, human population increases geometrically:

    FOOD/POPULATION:

    2/2
    3/4
    4/8
    ...
    8/128
    11/1024
    etc.

Malthus' solution was to end the Poor Laws in England. But that's sick and humans aren't rabbits. They need food to survive. No, the solution comes from making contraception safe and available. And educating women and increasing their status too.

Any population growth may be geometric over a given domain interval. It will not be if one broadens the interval in question. Population pressures will have their effect one way or another.

It would seem as though our (western) societies are engaged in a mass information campaign to get our people to self-select out of the gene-pool by various means/methods. Since our social benefits systems are a Ponzi scheme, this has necessitated importing masses from non-western societies, who do not subscribe to our reasons and methods of population control, to prop up our social benefits systems and to provide cheap labor (and suppress wage inflation pressures) for our late-stage capitalist economy.
