I just bought a boat, aboard which I am planning to live. The hull number is 13, as is the sail number. Being that sailors are superstitious already . . . .

Maybe that's why they sold it to you.

Just paint over and turn the 1 into a 7 or some other number.

Exept it will still be hull number 13. That and there is not a big "13" on the boat to paint over. 13 is the official production number. The only place that it shows up is on a little brass plate in the cabin.

It might be cursed though. There have been many previous owners. Some of whom had something bad happen to them just before they went off crusing, which forced them to sell the boat.

Scratch it out with a knife, then prepare for the law-suit.

Don't worry about extending an invitation to go sailing.;) Why did you buy it? Get good insurance.

Maybe if you named it Le Chat Noir...:p

Hehehe. Renaming a boat is bad luck besides. If I did that it would be a triple. A quadruple really since the sail number and the hull number are 13. I bought it specifically becuase it was too good a deal to pass up.

Lookit this way: 13 used to be a holy number in the native English pagan relgions, but got changed to being 'unlucky' when the church started trying to eliminate all traces of the native druidism...

Thats a load of bull. It is considered unlucky because of the date of the demise of the Kinghts Templar. The last Grand Master was killed on October 13, 1307. Their total destruction took a couple of months all told, but their demise is associated with the number 13. Incidentally, October 13, 1307 was a friday.
