That reminds me. I need to call for a physical. I should ask about getting a shot.

    Is it covered under OHIP?

Considering that they only followed the patients in the clinical testing for four years, and there was no studies done on how fertility was effected, or even numerous other effects that could be more subtle than those they were testing for, I will not be getting the HPV vaccination.

Over 70% of the population has some strain of HPV. Not all are cancer-causing. And the STD form can be prevented if safe sex is practiced.

Please, ladies, do your homework before filling your body with chemicals, dead viruses, and artificial hormones!

I've seen the ads for this new vaccine. I don't know, it's so new to the market yet, it just makes me really nervous, and I don't plan on getting one. It would be wonderful if it really did prevent cervical cancer, but how can you really be sure? What are the long term after effects of a vaccination such as this? Will it indeed protect you, or will it cause more problems down the line somehow?

SO not getting this vax! I hate hearing it referred to a "cervical cancer vaccine," which it most certainly is NOT. The manufacturer claims that this vax USUALLY prevents SOME of the strains of HPV that SOMETIMES cause cervical cancer. Plus there's the fact that untreated HPV can cause cervical cancer up to 20 years after exposure. As a previous poster mentioned, the girls in the trial were only followed for 4 years. This untested concoction is being forced down our throats for what? I'll tell you - MONEY! The manufacturers of Gardisil will receive over $300 for every woman and girl they convince to get all three shots. Hence all the ridiculous "one less" commercials. You really think the commercials are a public service, something they're doing out of the goodness of their hearts? Nope. They're preying on our fears of all kinds of cancer to make money.

I'm pretty sure we'll see a huge rise in undiagnosed cervical cancer and pelvic infections in the next ten years or so if this push continues. "I don't need a Pap smear - I had the cervical cancer vaccine!"

And of course, all these news programs insist that the vaxes are MANDATORY for school entry which they are NOT. Exemptions are always available!

Vaccines are bullshit. Don't buy into the pathos of this most recent campaign.
Nice link, Loveminx. Might be hard to swallow for those who haven't heard anything by Alex Jones before, though.

I got the vaccine too! It's a huge relief as I had a false positive last year and it scared me to death. I'm glad it happened because I became a lot more cautious of who I sleep with...my standards were pretty low for a couple of years...yuck! But the vaccine just makes me feel better and safer!

It's good to see there is at least three or four INFORMED women who have responded to this thread, who would not get this toxic vaccine if a gun was held to their head.

Most people would allow themselves to be injected with mercury and cancer viruses if the government said it was good for them....

Oh, I forgot, they already are.

Line up for your sheeple shots everyone.... Baahhhhhh

The government and big pharma loves you. They are truly looking out for your well-being. They want to protect you from cancer.

    Fools.

Some of you people really need to wake up.

To those who already got the vaccine, I feel sorry for you, but it's your own stupidity that is to blame for whatever long-term effects that may arise from getting this vaccine.

Heh. I'm quite happy with the shot that I have received and the health professionals that I have talked to, the information searches that I have done.

And I'm not planning on having protected sex for the rest of my life, so just having protected sex won't work for me, once I am married and trying for children.

Why is HPV even an issue anymore once you're married and monogomous? It doesn't just occur spontaneously from unprotected sex. One of the partners must be infected and pass it to the other. So if you have protected sex until you're ready to try for kids and your husband is not infected with HPV, you're good to go. Sorry, but that argument makes no sense whatsoever.

Not to mention the fact that there have been ZERO long-term studies on this vaccine and it hasn't been tested against a placebo. Basically, no one has any idea if this vax works or not. They THINK it PROBABLY does SOMETIMES. Not exactly a compelling argument for injecting women and girls with known poisons.

yeah, aristartle, if you're a good monogamous and perfectly virtuous woman who's married to a person who's never had risky sexy with anyone ever and can be fully and completely trusted to never ever once make a mistake, you won't have to worry about any diseases ever, which is how God in tended.

    sorry, feeling extremely sarcastic lately.

Men CAN get tested for HPV, you know. So use condoms till monogamy, get tested before you stop using them, and if neither of you has HPV, you're good to go. No vaccine needed (not that anybody needs such a worthless vax). No need for bitchiness either.
