How well do you function on LSD?

I've never tried LSD, but I'm really interested in it. I know it all depends on the dose, but how in control of yourself are you on acid? Do you lose the ability to make proper judgments and act crazy or is it just all in your head, and you're chilled out? I'm just wondering how out of your mind you might look to sober people, are there any physical signs? Like red-eye with pot?

Tough question, and the answer can be quite varied depending on factors such as body chemistry, dosage, and experience. There are certainly individuals who drop acid and get a bit nutty, others are content to sit there inside their own minds and soak it up. If you're looking to drop for the first time, I recommend a calm setting with at least one person you trust who has dropped before to sort of help out if, God forbid, you have a bad trip. Try not to have any people around that you don't know or don't like/trust.

But as I indicated before, whether someone is chilled or not really depends - I do not believe one can accurately make a sweeping generalization when it comes to hard core psychedelics, though it is amusing when people try.

I am planning on trying acid next Fall when I come back to school with my good friend-- definitely a calm atmosphere.
Do you get any physical indicators? Like do your eyes and face look different? I guess that's what i'm mostly wondering.

I hope your next trip comes as soon as you want it to! Isn't it funny how you can just feel it coming? I know my first time is going to come early next year.

 

Your pupils will be dilated, and you may perspire a bit, or occasionally get chills. Also you'll find you have a bit of energy, so you'll likely be a bit fidgety which may be noticeable to an onlooking stranger.

 

meredizzle from what you are saying i believe you are indeed ready for your first trip. for me it was not planned as with you, yet it was one of the best nights of my life. i remember looking at my friend (we were sitting on a couch at a party house in our own world) and just pissing ourselves laughing at everything we saw, the clock, a fly on the wall, anything would start us up. and i reccomend you allow yourself and your fellow trippers complete freedom to let go and do whatever you like. simply do not be in a place where you may be comprimised by pearents or anyone who may look down on you for tripping. i gaurantee you if you get strong enough hits you will not be able to control the euphoric child you are transformed into, you simply will do whatever you feel like, so just allow for that in advance..

oh and just to answer your question more fully, in the peak of an acid trip you are likely to laugh in the face of repremanding pearents etc. you wont be phased by them. (until you straighten up and realise the scope of what you have done, tripping, laughing in their faces- or whatever the case..) and that could affect your relationship with them, so i encourage you to simply not allow that possibility. do it somewhere and someplace that can't happen. it will do wonders for you and your experience if you pick the right time/place etc.

 

It's really quite odd, things tend to go right in the world while you're tripping even while your mind can be a terrible state. One time I was incredibly freaked out for some reason, I was driving around and I thought the cops were after me, imagined I was done for and my body was disintegrating and felt my face with my hands totally disfigured. The whole time I was fine.

 

When you go fishing and release all your lures back into the lake... Its probably not safe to drive home, just yet..

I truly hope you did this at some point. I can picture it... although instead of looking like whatever you look like, you look like your avatar, which is funny.

 

LSD is a remarkably clear-headed psychedelic. Your functioning WILL be impacted of course, but much less than something like shrooms would do. In fact I'd say the impact on functioning is not that much greater than on a STRONG pot high. Of course it depends how much acid you took. Unless you are the type of person that normally has problems with judgement and acting crazy, you'll be fine on LSD. Don't expect to operate heavy machinery or program your VCR necessarily, but simple things are doable. You won't even necessarily look that high to other people, you'll be staring around, laughing at nothing, gasping in awe at everything. Your pupils explode to gigantic size and your skin might get flushed.

Hahaha this makes me so excited for it! I'm going to be in my own house next year or at a friends house, so I won't have any worries with my parents.
Should I be worried about going places when I'm tripping? My friends and I really enjoy walking/biking to a river that's right by campus. I'm thinking as long as I'm not in a car it will be okay to travel around outside =D.
Its a little ridiculous how far ahead I'm thinking about this...I'm just so excited to do it! But I cannot do it over this summer, simply because trying drugs at home instead of at college seems weird o.0

 

Thank you for answering that part of my question--I've been pretty into pot lately so I understand what you mean about a strong pot high--this makes me more confident that I can function on LSD :]. Right now I'm deciding if I should try shrooms or LSD first. My friend Adam says shrooms first, because if I can handle those, I can handle LSD according to him.

No matter what you read, do, ask, it will be 1000% more than all the info you have gathered, yet at the same time less than expected.
The psychedelic experience is very paradoxical in nature. Everything will completely new and fantastic, yet still all the same.

As far as the shrooms vs LSD thing, personally I vote LSD as the first to try. But on the other hand shrooms have a much shorter duration which can also be desirable for a first time for some people.
But honestly even though they are both psychedelics, they are distinctly different chemicals with very distinct and different effects. I personally prefer LSD over mushrooms, but value them both as learning experiences. Mushrooms have more of a tendency to slap you down and make you their bitch than LSD does, at least in my experience spanning 30+ years with these substances.
