THIS IS NOT THE " DON'T BUY GAS FOR ONE DAY" , BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON. This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please. Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea. This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! It's worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. The oil companies just laughed at that because They knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can Really work. Please read on and join with us! By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $3.89 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war. Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) . And those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message Reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will Have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all! If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am . So trust me on this one. How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $2..00 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK. Keep it going
I don't want to drive them down. We just bought a car that gets 38 mpg and I plan on getting one of my own with even better mileage. Let's have it at $4-5 a gallon and see how many people keep their dirty, dangerous SUV's. Higher gas prices to make the USA get with the program!
Well, actualy I am a mathematician. Got a piece of paper from Gov. George Dukemajian saying I am. And I distrust any "mathematician" who can't recognize a Ponzi scheme when he proposes one. By the time you reach the fourth or so level people will have trouble finding others who haven't yet received a letter. Yes, the "unlettered" will exist, but those with letters won't have enough social conectivity to the "unlettered" to give them their copy. I think that riding a bike is a better responce to oil prices than starting a chain letter.
It's funny how people in America always complain about high gas prices even though it's still twice as cheap as it is in Europe and you don't hear anyone complain over here
People in America is always at the gas pumps because we have twice the people you have. Just going down the road here can take you hrs, and it isn't even rush hr (coming home from work), which we can't call it that anymore. You will be very surprise to know just how many people live in just one of our Counties here. Not talking States, but Counties. You have to take the whole day off to see a doctor. Yeah, they give you a time, but you're lucky if they don't forget about you, because they have so many to deal with.
Oh, and in our ER here. God is the doctor, because you could die before they can get to ya. Sorry, feel like bitching today. lol
For your knowledge, there is also hours to go to and get from work in France, and distance are very big, and if you live in the mountains areas, and there is many parts of France who are, its even bigger, and as it is mountains it crave more gas as well... Staying in lines and traffic jam is also common there, go to Paris and have some fun there, or to Lyon, or Bordeau, or Marseille, or try to get to and from the beach on summer anywhere in France, and oyu will see whatjam we are talking about... As for doctor, you just dont have sufficiently educated people in USA because you have to apy for the education you get and it has nothing to do with the gas... They have the same problem in Denmark and there is not more htan 5 millions people in Denmark..still you have to make your apppointment long in advance, and wait 3 hours to come in.. and they only take patient in the morning..so if its midday and youiddnt came in, even oyu had an appointment, oyu just have to get a new one and come again! and the waiting roooms are full always. In france it is different, you got an appointment very fast, you come and are received immedialty, there is nobody in the waiting room, and if there is it will be an acute case, and will never be more than 1 or 2 persons, usualy mother with a child, and the doc are extremelly good and efficient, and if you have an appointment at 3pm you are out at 3:20 ans thats it, and they receive from 8 am to 4 or 5pm, or from 9 am to 7-8 pm. so that people who are working can come after work or before work too. Take the countie of Hérault in south of France, there is more doc htere and specialist in all fields, and surgeons worldy known, and all kind of specialists in all area from nuclear to agriculture, than you have in the entire States. They grow it! thats also the place in the world where the very first university was created, and still exist, and is over 1000 years old. To come back to gas price, it cost 4-5 times more per liter in Danmark than in the US, so, we bike a lot!!! bus cost 2½ dolllar for one hour, within 20 km, 3 dollars for an area of 25 km, and 4 dollars for 30 km, and a montly card cost 100 dollars for bus.. So biking is the alone way to get around. Distance are shorter, but weather is bitch! As for France, the public transport system is top, they have tramway in the south who cost 1 dollar for 24 hours, and which ticket can be used on all transport systems, metro, busses and country/long distance busses , no matter the distance inside the county. Meaning you can get on bus in the afternoon, come back home in the evenng, and get back to the city the morning after on one ticket. They also have a huge parking place at the entrance of the city, where you park your car, and there is guard watching it, and you pay one dollar and receive a ticket the same as for public transport, and the tramway station is just beside, and you can drive through all the city on that ticket the entire day, and come back to piuck up your car in the evening when you are done , and go home. It reduced jam in the city and pollution with over 50%. Montpellier use it, and their tramway is awesom. air condition, ultra fast, and reallly beautifull. So less gas could be solved in big cities that way. As for those living remotly, there is no other solution but the car, but i also heard of people taking the car to drive 100 meter.... so thats kind of crazy.. If you live in the mountains, you cant walk nor bike. Distance are far too big and if the mistral (strong wind) is blowing or if it is sommer, it is directly life dangerous. Its too hot on summer, and on winter the wind can blow you out in the ravins. But maybe some fox in here need to travel a bit and see some new horizons.. looks like. In Denamrkl they have a website for people with car to people without one, to drive together and each pay part of the gas, so if soemone drive to a big city, he can do so for free, with 3 or 4 people going there too. and also people driving to and from work exchange, one week this one drive him and the other the other one, htis way they spare on gas, and also on oil an on number of drived km on their car..smart.. peole working same place do so, not many , but thats cool. also people going to a concert or festival do so, or travelling..put an add there and get several people to travel with.. But it crave trust, and its sure that in the US it will be quickly abused and far too dangerous.. It isnt here. Public transpåortation should be a state priority and controlled by the government as it is a place where they can save big billions of dollars per year on energy bills, and petro dollars, and have a very noticable and positive influence on the BNP of the USA. question is: why dont they do somehting about it? And here we are asking again: WHO THE HELL KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR AND WHY?????
i really believe we should take this as a wake-up call to find better fuels. i myself am not driving yet, plan to start this summer. i hope to start out with straight veggie oil. it's not the perfect answer, just where i'm starting from. better options will come from there.
You need to remember that America is a very car-oriented society. While yes we do drive cars that waste alot of gas, the car is much more needed in in general in America then it is in Europe. The US was built with transportation in mind. When the US really started to expand as a whole in the 1800's, it was rails, then as the 20th century came in and towns grew outwards it was with the car, I mean by the end of WW1 Ford was producing the Model-T at a price most American families could afford, and then when you to post WW2 and the massive expansion of the suburbs where most people live today, cars were needed for people to get around in life. I'd say as a whole, of people that drive everyday here, 90% need to drive to live their life. Public transportation in the US outside major cities SUCKS and the way things are spaced out walking and cycling are out of the question for most people, like where I live, it's a decent sized town of 16,000 people, which is the suburb of a city of 130,000, but without a car it'd be impossible to even get food, the nearest non gas station place that sells food is 25min on bike either way, and I live in the part of town thats the "busy" part of it.
well, high gas prices are annoying and inconvenient, and for folks like me who make pretty slim wages, it can be especially problematic. particularly since the american city planners never seem to take into account that it would be nice to zone cities in such a way so that there are places where you dont NEED to drive...you know, having businesses, residences, parks, and places of worship all in the same general vicinity, with plenty of pedestrian-friendly areas. everything is so spread out here, largely because there is so much free space in which to spread out, and largely because the vast majority of our cities were founded or began expanding decades ago when gas prices weren't an issue. of course there are SOME exceptions, but for the majority of american's this is not the case. we've become so reliant on automobiles its rediculous. gas is by no means a renewable resource, and the days of pleasure cruising are long gone and never to return. gas prices WONT go down, and its a good thing, too, even if it pisses me off due to inconvenience. you want to know why? we pollute so much already. and we have since the introduction of coal power. first coal destroyed the environment like nothing else...every motorized vehicle (particularly boats and trains) ran on coal, every factory burned coal, every home was heated by coal...in some big cities so much coal was burned that buildings were entirely covered in soot. then came gasoline. every family driving cars, so many businesses polluting, so many decades without emissions standards. the environment is in SAD shape right now, but its not entirely beyond repair. that said, even if we quit using gasoline and coal cold turkey, it the environment will continue to develop a few problems related to human meddling before it starts getting better.... at any rate, what i'm doing to help is driving as little as possible. walking when i can, and soon will purchase a bicycle and whenever i possibly can i will be biking to work on our cities wonderful bike trails. the answer to the gas problem is not taking on the gas companies, it's ignoring them and making do without gasoline. i envision a motor-free path revolution in the next decade...roads meant for pedestrians, skaters, and cyclists are going to pop up all over the place in no time, and a huge increase in sidewalks, designated bike lanes on busy roads, and so forth. lets face it people, petroleum is one of the least renewable resources there is. ethanol is an ok alternative, but not plentiful enough to replace gasoline entirely and allow us to keep driving indefinitely. solar is good where it's practical, but honestly if we keep depending on fossil fuels for nearly every aspect of life then we'll just get more and more screwed by prices on everything. so transport yourself by the sweat of your brow....walking, biking, and skating are FREE TRANSPORTATION, FREE EXERCISE with no gym membership required, and you get fresh air and scenic routes! its good for your body, less stressful than road rage, its terriffic for the planet....its entirely beneficial. now i dont live in a climate where i can entirely give up my car at the moment. in severe weather, in the wintertime, or when i need to go long distances (mostly just to school) i'll still need to drive....but for most of the year, for most purposes, a bicycle or walking will suffice. so why should i still pay 3.50 a gallon for gas like a shmuck? i put $20 in my tank the other day and didnt even fill the damn thing half way. it doesnt make sense to do this every other day just to get around to places less than 10 miles from my home.
jeeze! this really is the protest forum! do youall do anything other than protest everything? "What you resist persists." - Carl Jung Peace is stronger than anti-war.
Ride a bike locally, and buy a car that gets over 30 mpg. You aren't going to change gas prices, so change yourself and the car you drive. If you new car gets double the mileage of your present one, you're effectively paying half the price of gas that you were. Trade in your gas guzzler for a fuel efficient car and you won't have a reason to complain because you'll be effectively getting gas for under $2 a gallon, relative to what you are currently. It's that easy.
Thank you for elucidating the obvious. I have for years not owned a car, and rode a bike or walked. As it happens now, I need a car to do the things I need to do. My car does get over 30 mpg. All these points youall make are fine, but don't discount the fact that consumers can have an impact on any market, gasoline for example, if we work together. Don't be so negative, ok?
It seems like there are people who support the gas companies raping and pillaging people with exorbanent gas prices because it will "cause them to drive less." It won't. It will also effect even people who don't drive, because higher gas prices means the cost of everything will go up, including food and whatever else you buy. It has nothing to do will a lack of oil or anything like that. They are gradually uping the price, because soon you'll be paying $5 a gallon. The UN also wants to impose a global tax on all gas, supposedly in the name of "global warming."
I have got rid of my cars, and now generally walk or use the train. I would have said that I don't give a toss if petrol prices go up, but I tend to think twice before making a statement. The price of oil does not just affect cars. Economics work much like the food-chain principle of eco-systems. If you start altering the key elements, you can eradicate an entire habitat. So, every time the price of oil goes up, in not just your SUV drivers who will suffer, but every person on low income in the world. Food and medicine needs to be shipped, oil price will drive their costs up. Plastics depend on oil by-products, therefore pretty much everything we buy will rise in cost. Public services are also affected. There are some good case points about the environment, and I am an environmentalist myself, but this is about more than just filling your car up at the gas station. This is capitalism that is spiralling out of control. There are cities where people now have 2 jobs in order to survive and pay the rent. Most people now work so hard that they are too tired or complacent to care about their fate any more. The companies mentioned are largely to blame for the car-tastrophe that is swelling up, and people can either wait for the dam to break, or take action while there's still time to change things.
All these fucking twatty americans who, just like their government, do not realise how big a political divide is opening up between europe and the usa on this issue - GET THIS STRAIGHT ONCE AND FO ALL - the USA causes 25% of all the earths pollution - europe causes 13% even though we have a bigger p[opulation and more industry -0 nhow heres the fact - in europe fuel is taxed because it is not your right to own a car but given that cars exist and it is someones right to sell them - then the pollution footprint belongs to the buyer ! - so we tax highly to force cars off the road -= just try waddling that fat fucking american arse of yours down the shops rather than driving that 200 yards huh !! FFS either join the real world or europe will fuck the USA on these issues
yeah well I am sure everyone advised your mom to do it but hey you can lead a moose to water but you cant make it think hahaha pressed twat wades in with another off topic post
