i am bascilly a hyoung hippie, but some people are so high strung on what they think hippies are, and some even have rules on how hippies should live. what do you think hippie rules are? to me i dont think you have to follow rules to be a hippie. any comments?
In my view, there are no rules, everybody has to do what he or she wants to do..Ultimate Freedom with as only limitation that you don't hurt other people/animals with it. but hey, that's how I feel about it, everybody probably thinks different about this because everyone is unique with it's own specific views on things... that is probably why we can't get a new hippy movement to rise up (yet), there are too many different points of view, what divides us. We should get over our differences and Unite once again so we can finally stop the problems now arising in the world. The war on war has not been won in the sixties, it is time to finish the job.... Lots of Love and Peace Slick
You just have to believe in the whole peace love and happiness thing and -BAM-! Instant hippy! (just add water)
Hey What Rules? In my opinion there are no rules...You just feel like being hipppie that's all...af course you shouldn't have only long hair and tell everybody that you're hippie...You have some things to believe to...like peace...love, look to life different way.., but I don't know if it's true.., cause I am not hippie................................. But I think there are NO RULLES BEING HIPPIE!!!!!!
If there were rules, it wouldn't be hip. It isn't a club, or a business or religion or a fraternity. There really isn't a real definition.
I agree Looking around sites and such you'll find ideas of hippydom. Perhaps that's the general idea, I don't know or care. I think the real essence is not listening to others (society, people, whatever) and following your heart. As long as you're happy and do no harm then anything goes.
yea, the rules are there are no rules! everyone has their own kinda hippy beliefs and feelings but at the end of the day a hippy is only a name, youre you!
To me, to be a hippie is to make an informed choice about how you live and not have it dictated to you by the media and big corporations. In other words, don't necessarily do what everyone else out there is doing, but by the same token don't do the opposite just for the sake of being opposite, because that's not thinking about what YOU want, it's just thinking about being opposite. (I hope I'm making sense) Do what suits you.
I don't believe in killing, war, fighting, etc. The world would be a better place if all that was eliminated....
LOL I like that. Instant Hippie. Ingredients: Peace, Love, Happiness, Flowers, Music Extract, and Rainbow Dye 5.
Hey, you're a big man. You come to a HIPPIE forum and insult us. Oh, you've got big balls now. Go away.
i think hippies are people who no longer need to get angry about something in order to sleep well at night. people who are not afraid. people who don't need guns to be courageous. i am definitely not pushing organized religion here, but i think hippies are people who spend their lives trying to be more like jesus, loving and compassionate instead of reflexively violent and hateful. hippies are what happens when the peasants revolt against the nobles without murdering them in their sleep. hippies never believe anything they see on tv. a nice hippy couple moved in next door to me a few years ago. he was 19, she was 26 i think (she liked 'em young, god bless her heart). they had moved to canada so they could smoke pot without going to prison. two of the nicest people i've ever met; they were the only people who'd give me a ride when i was hitching into town.
A lot of people like being able to put a label on people, especially on people who're somehow 'different'. It makes them feel better, more secure... Many people are sorta afraid of anyone who's a bit different and to put a label on it 'oh, he's just a hippie', 'oh, she's just one of those goths' helps them handle it. I personally don't really care, I like some hippie things, am barefoot, like crafts, got a job that'll support me but I don't care for making lots of money beyond that... but I'm not a total hippie either... Used to be totally anti-war as a teenager but I've since decided that sometimes we have to fight -I don't like Iraq but I supported the first Gulf war and Afghanistan. Got some hippie clothes but also a lot of velvetty Gothic stuff, but I don't do Goth music or the gloomy thing.
