How to find local events/general questions?

I`ve been looking around the internet, researching, checking facebook pages, etc...but I haven`t been able to find anything for Virginia. Am I in a dry spot or do I need connections to get word?

Also a few questions:

Do I need to worry about busts (due to drugs, lack of permits, etc...)?

As a female, are there any extra-precautions I should take?

What items (food or otherwise) should I bring?

Anything else I should know?

Should be some info around christian/blacksburg or so i hear. Im told i can now post other sites now would u like other websites? I know most of the facebook groups too.
