A bunch of democratic countries leave the U.N and set up a new body called the Union of Demcratic States to which entry is only permited to countries that have verifiabley incorrupt elections. This body then refuses to deal with anyone outside of it's membership...thus forcing hopefully reform of undemocratic countries so they can join and join in the trading spree.

Most "undemocratic" countries have no desire whatsoever to become democratic. They would not fight for a position within that boys club. Not only that, but a club that essentially runs the "free world" would be no better than what we have now; a crooked club that runs the "free world".

Who determines which country has unimpeachable elections? Who sets the standard? Seems like just another brand of elitism aimed at suggesting one sovereignty is better than another. Impose any outside standard on the proud, egotistical heads of state who imagine themselves to be above conforming to any outside standard and you've sown the seeds of conflict that lead to anything but world peace. As long as geopolitical divisions and differing national identities persist there will be the potential for open hostilities. I respectfully suggest that it is human nature itself that is the proverbial wrench thrown in to any plan to achieve world peace.... the simplest way to arrive at true global peace would be to exterminate humans.

This is why the democracies of the world (lump them together like common markets and better or lesserly connected to the American Gold Standard) are narcissistic in the hearts enough to be more important to existing via Capitalism. Capitalism to these people, like Donald Trump, Bill Gates, and Conrad Black, is just as well a one party system: that is the party is their whole life.

What you say would only happen in a "perfect world." Culturally and historically, all societies on this planet are much too different to do such a thing. its human nature to disagree with such a conformed standard when a lot of nations have been without political change in thousands of years.

And what nations have uncorrupted elections? There would be no nations eligible to join such a group

If everyone did this we would have world peace.

hehe... I sometimes wonder though with mass extinction./ Since we all would pass equally at the same time., Therefore ending up in the same reality we left.. / but we could try a time interval approach and see if that works.. :D

Even if we killed every living thing and made the planet barren, there wouldn't be peace.

Some rebel asteroids would come and disrupt the surface.

Well than a better chance of not committing suicide, and yielding the doubtful will for you. "Just better."

It wouldn't be so perfect. As was said earlier, it's just another version of a select few running the show, calling the shots. That's exactly what we have now. It's just a romanticized version of the "democracy" that we currently have. The flaw is human nature. No system will ever be free and great.

I'd love to read your thoughts on Jonestown :D

Then how'd it get all them craters?

I'm sure those were some tranquil impacts.

That's all subjective. To a human being's standard of peaceful it probably wouldn't have been. But no humans were there at the time. I doubt the moon has any standards of what is and isn't peaceful, therefore the impacts technically wouldn't necessarily be not peaceful or disruptive.

Indeed they were most tranquil- when viewed from afar. It's not like there's an asteroid storm every day... chances are that in the time it would take for you to asphyxiate on the lunar surface you wouldn't be struck at all... a most peaceful death.

    Disruptive
    1. to cause disorder or turmoil in
    2. to destroy, usually temporarily, the normal continuance or unity of; interrupt

Would an impact, particularly a big one, not cause major disruption of the moon dust?

Only if the dust had the consciousness to register the disruptive impact.

Nature is objective. Consciousness provides a subjective experience. The moon isn't conscious, (I assume).

But aren't our terms such as 'disruption', 'impact', 'moon' and even 'consciousness' describing physical objects, states and events?
Do these various things stop existing merely because no one is speaking of them?
Isn't peace/tranquility one of these states?
