I have planned to go to Ecuador up to Quito but yesterday i've heard that Tirofijo has announced more terror. There are also lots of guerilla activities near the columbian border. Can anybody tell me if its responsible to go there at the moment?
Hi there. I am from Guayaquil, a bit more than 400 km SW of Quito. Ecuador don't suffer from the violent conflict in Colombia. There is none of terrorists attacks to civilians here, and very little kiddnapping, not related to the guerrilla and the paras. The border area might be a little dangerous, but Quito is very safe, at least as safe as any big city.
yeah man, jump on board.. ecuador is fantastic... where ya goin? jus the city? let us know... id say go east, go south, go north go west..haha... go up a mountain, down in a valley.. see it all.. dance a bit too.. whooo adam
ecuador is amazing...and really not dangerous if you keep your eyes open. i was studying in the quito area last semester, and absolutely loved the city. didn't get to travel much, but have been through most of quito and can say with a reasonable amount of confidence that it's fairly safe. keep an eye on your purse/pockets in crowds (standard procedure in most of the world) and you ought to be good. lots of cool places to vist, and really friendly people.
Hey I was in Quito the last week, just stayed for 8 days after 11 years when of my last time being there. I think it is still a safe city, well if you are late at night and alone in a place unsage I am sure you will have problem dont care which city or country you are. But Quito is safe, just dont go to the South part of the city if you dont know it weel or dont go alone, just that
