i"m 33 and have been called an old hippie,by some young folks, and young by some old folks........what do you think...
33 isn't old....I guess it CAN be if you are one of those people in a huge hurry to be a grown up as soon as you hit 20, but I'd say it isn't even middle age.
My son is 35 he's a hippie as he was born in a commune and raise with hippies, I would call him an old hippie cuz he has lived it since birth, but the others that are that age don't seem old to me, cuz' by that stance, I would be ancient!! I'm too young to be ancient. That being said, your as old or young as you live. Blessed Be
If you're old enough to have personal memories of the Summer of Love, the first Woodstock, the Apollo 11 moon landing, the Vietnam War or the Watergate scandal that drove Richard Nixon out of the White House, then you're an "old hippie." -- Skeeter
I am 33 and I feel left out, as I am no longer a "young hippy" yet I do not quite qualify as an old one either.
It's all a state of mind. I feel left out coz I was too young for the sixties, to really participate. But really I guess they influenced me a lot, even in the 70's. But it's not unusual to feel out of place if you're a hippie of any generation. Just be yourself. That's all that counts.
If you're old enough to have memories of these events or if you have memories. I'm old enough but most of the memories aren't there. I do remember the summer of love. I lost my virginity that fall. The rest of it is pretty much a blur. Kathi
Whatever happened to the saying "if you can remember the sixties, you weren't there." Hee Hee. I always liked that one. Anyway I can't remember the sixties because I really wasn't there (born in '74). However at times I feel sort of like I've been smoking the resin of the 60's because I feel like I was there even though I wasn't (not in this body anyway). Guess I'll just concentrate on being a hippie in the here and now.
