I'm wanting to eat some weed and i'm wondering how much to eat. I usually smoke about a joint each time i smoke.
Yeah straight, and supposedly, according to erowid, it doesn't matter whether you bake it into food or not. And i really don't feel like doing that anyways.I couldn't find any information about tjhis on erowid. Can anyone tell me how much to use?
you gotta cook it man, nothin will happen if you eat it straight, unless its an insane amount probably. your better off just smokin it, like always.
In order to get effects from oral consumption, the THC must first be extracted into a fat so it can be absorbed into the blood stream. If you eat the weed straight, you'll probably just shit out a a bunch of leafy turds.
yeah it said something about using butter to help get it into your system. i'll just do that some how. If i waste it, fuck it.
you CAN eat raw bud without extracting the THC into fats or alcohol. the first step is to get a good potent plant. after harvest you need to start the process of drying, and curing. curing is VERY important, because it is the beginning stage of decarboxylation, or, transferring the non-psychoactive THCA produced by the plant into THC. the longer you cure the better, but not all of the THCA will be changed to THC. normally, at this point, the bud would be ready for smoking. smoking, using a lighter, decarboxylates more of the THCA and makes the weed more potent. but instead, we will use a different heat source to finish the job of decarboxylation. there are may ways to finish the job, but the quickest ways are using the oven or a food dehydrator. in an oven you should place the weed on a baking sheet, and turn the oven to around 150 degrees. once the oven is warm place the baking sheet into the oven for around 10 minutes. the buds should now have mostly THC and little if any THCA. using a food dehydrator, place the buds on the herb rack and leave them in till they are slightly brown and crispy(as much as a few days). the food dehydrator will not harm your buds because the temperature at which it runs isn't very high at all. this method is better than the oven because there is less risk of harming the buds. but, as with the oven method, the buds should contain mostly THC and little to no THCA. you can also use a stove and a pan but this method is hard to control. the weed is now ready to eat "Raw" AKA un extracted. break up the buds really well before eating them. this is tried and true.
I don't see how that would help oral consumtion, though. That sounds to be stemming from the idea that you need heat in order to activate the THC, which is only correct to the extent of the process you posted as well as supersaturation in solvents. The THC still needs a mechanism to effectively enter your blood stream, it needs the extraction into a fatty solvent.
Haha, well if you do end up eating it, desert nightmare, and you do shit out leafy turds, post a picture.
ive tried this, and it works... though im not a fan of the bud/brownie/bhang high. do you believe that eating hash doesn't work?
I've actually never delved into hash all that much; I've only come across it a couple of times and haven't really had any need for research. I guess I just need to look further into how exactly THC takes effect and by which mechanisms.
Well I've only spent about 30 minutes of research time but I've found evidence pointing to an increase in effects when dissolved in a fatty solution. Due to delta 9-THC's lipophility and high binding to tissue and especially to fat, dissolving in a lipophilic solute increases microsomal hydroxylation conversion to 11-hydroxy-delta 9-THC increasing metobolism to 11-nor-delta 9-THC-9-carboxylic acid by psychoactive metabolite and liver alcohol-dehydrogenase enzymes. I haven't found information indicating unresponsiveness to non-lipohilic THC solutions, but there is evidence indicating decreased efficiency at least.
I can eat a leaf from my plants and feel the effects, so why not by eating a bud or two? If you chew it up good enough that is. Make some cannibutter or tea from the bud if you don't want to smoke any. But be warned, when you eat weed, it takes about 45 minutes to feel it and when you do, it's more of a body buzz than head high. Please don't cook your pot in a frying pan with a glob of butter! Too much heat ruins the thc content. You need a double boiler to cook it down to eat. Here's a recipe for THE BEST pot brownie's around: Get a box of brownie mix that calls for oil to be used in the mixing instructions. Next prepare the oil by using a double boiler to gently heat it while adding kind buds. They should be broken apart well, but not powdered as they would be hard to strain. Put in as much as you wish (at least 1/4 ounce) and heat for 20 minutes. *if you don't use a double boiler you won't be able to keep the temp right and will lose thc* After 20 minutes or so, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer and seperate the plant matter from the oil. Now, and this is key, resoak the herb in 2 shots of 151 rum for 5 or 10 minutes and strain that mixture into the brownie mix with the oil. The rum will help remove any of the left over oil from the plant matter and will flavor the brownies as well. Then, just mix and bake as directed for delicious rum flavored pot brownies. Enjoy.
