Yeah, most shelters are crammed full with them, they're more than willing to let you adopt. They'll even give them all the vaccines(sp) and chips/tattoes here for free.

 

yea... payin for a cat would just be silly, there are too many of them already...

unless u want a special breed, (which escapes me but yea)...

did u kno that (in france at least), it is illegal to have your cat have kittens?
i went to the vet to sterilize my cat (dunno how to say that, i hope it makes sense) and i asked him if i should let her have kittens at least once before the operation cuz thats what most pple say and he said that it was bull, that cats dont need to have kittens to be healthy, and that yea, its illegal anyway.

 

Let's see,... my local shelter will give them to you, spaid/neutured, with vaccines for $2-$5. Specially breeded cats can range as much as $800. Cats are goddesses and you will definitely be rewarded if you take in a stray, like I did.

Getting a cat can be quite costly depending on how you choose to take care of it.

 

ah yea that may be what the original post was about.

id say my cat costs me (ok nothing now cuz shes at my parents), but it virtually costs around €1 a day (thats about $1). thats for food cuz she goes in the garden outside for her natural needs (so no litter)...
but vitually, if u have to call a vet and stuff like that, it can get way more expensive

 

Yeah I've had a few cats,but I think they ran away .Me & my family went on vacation for a few days and when we came back our cat wouldn't come over to us,he was always at our neighbors house.

We found a cat but it died that night,when a couple of punks threw a little tire on our front porch where the cat was sleeping(I don't know how they saw the cat),and those punks pit bull ripped the poor cat to shreds It grabbed the cat by the neck and took off with it, one of our neighbors came out with a pole and chased the dog,then chucked the spear at it.We found the cats body the next day.It would of been worst if we had the cat for a few years and that happen,good thing we weren't attached to it. I remember my brother was crying while the pit bull was killing it,that was some fucked up shit,hearing that evil sound the dog was making while ripping the cat apart.

 

My friend was telling me about two kittens that hang out around where he lives.He said noone owns them,I'm thinkin bout taking em',but I'm not sure if their somebodys,I don't wanna take noones cat.

 

Pick them up and bring them into the local vet. It's free and they will put an ad in the paper, and if the owner is looking for it chances are they checked in with the local vet. If no one calls then the cat's yours.

 

Free kittens are usually the most expensive. My friend and I have three free kittens. People should not give away kittens! You never know what kind of people will take them and what they'll do to them. Anyway this kittens were feral, not used to human contact. They were in this horrible glass display case outside. They ripped the crap put of me when I tried to get them out. Two of them got away and we never found them. I left a blood trail in the case. They were loaded with fleas, probably worms and their ears were very infected. They needed shots, FIV tests, leukemia tests, blood tests, to be spayed and $18 a bottle ear medicine. So all and all they cost us close to $1,000.00, and we got vouchers from the local humane society for two to get spayed. Two only us cost $75, but Sabrina cost us $200.00.

Our local humane society only charges $60.00 for a cat that has been fixed (or if it's a kitten they give you a voucher to have it done), and had all the shots for the year.

Cats are not cheap, think before you get one. They should live about 16 years if you care for them right, so it's a long time commitment.

 

If you fo to a vet sometimes they give them away but they're stray cats and might be a bit vicious or they might have a bad history or something. Cats are quite cheap really, if you get them from the public and it's even better when they're kittens.

Never adopted a cat, so I've no idea. but.....

Here are some figures (mainly estimates) for Branwen. They're in pounds sterling as I'm a Brit (I believe a dollar is worth about 2/3rd of a pound)

£200*: Vets bills for; two shots, spaying, checkups, some special liquid food and a course of medicine for an eye infection.
£70: Nice big hutch
£60: A less than top of the range run, and we're probably need to replace it at some point.
£40: Donation to the rescue centre when we adopted her.
£10: 5 little cat toys she plays with
£4: A weeks supply of food (bagged feed, fruit and carrot for snacks)
£3.99: A bag of pellets for her litter tray, lasts about three weeks.
" " A bag of hay for bedding, lasts a month or so.
£2: Antibacterial spray used to clean her hutch, we've only got through one so far.

She is of course a one year old lion head. A cat is bound to be more expensive.

*We've clocked this up since Febuary, and it's a running total.

By the food it sounded like it was a rabbit...but you just said a lion head...I didn't know that was a type of rabbit.

well if you go to the nearest humane society or animal shelter you can adopt one for free i think im not sure how it works in other states but in wisconsin thats how it worked.
