We have photography--beach scenes, cityscapes, stuff like that--and I have a tendency to frame things like vintage movie posters and concert fliers. But actual art? Unless religious statues count, virtually none. Actually none. Damn, we're uncultured.
I recently moved into my own room at a place that I've been moving in and out off for around 7 years. When I moved into my solo-room I went around the house and collected the art I liked to decorate the new room with. I did choose a really cool poster online with a photo of some trees and stars. It was beautiful. Porch Pirates got it though. I might not be staying here much longer, so I doubt I'll be collecting any more art for now.
I have this one print (or whatever) of a duck that I found at a second hand store. I bought it after building a new house and needed something to hang on a wall. I think it cost around $1. It was actually one of a pair, the other of a duck facing in the opposite direction, but I was too cheap to buy the other one. Incidentally, I hate it.
my parents had a series of i think 3 paintings/prints/whatever it is very similar to that when i was little. they hung in our living room for years. and they're not there now and i don't have the slightest clue when or where they went. maybe one is in your house...
this is hanging over my couch: i don't know what it is, i got it a goodwill for a few bucks. i have other things hanging on my walls, but they're all framed posters. mostly posters of photos; 3 of them are various cities, and there's an album cover. one of them is of a dali painting, but it's hard to call a beat-up old poster "art" even if it was artistically based.
If You Gain Pleasure From Viewing It......Tis Art To You......And In The End That's All That Matters..... Cheers Glen.
I have plenty of Art but their only prints not worth a dime Thomas Eakins, Winslow Homer, James Abbott McNeill Whistler, John Singer Sargent......
I like that painting a lot. The perspective is all strange. It looks like many things. If you die, can I have it please?
sure. i will be putting a stipulation in my will that it has to be a natural death though, so don't get any ideas.
I didn't even have that idea. Not for a moment. It would be no pleasure to own the painting with blood on my hands.
