Not necessarily how many times have you been given a ticket, but how many times you have been pulled over?

I have been driving for about 20 years, and if my memory serves me correctly I have been pulled over 7 times.

Yeah, it could be that I've just been lucky or the police are just lax I dunno.

  5. A couple of dozen easily. The first batch when I was a teenager. I've been ticketed every time but once in California when I ran a stop sign that was so obscured by shrubbery I didn't notice it. The cop was decent about it and had me follow him to the offending sign. As we approached the intersection I could then see the sign clearly, from its back side. The cop saw the front side was obscured and told me he'd call it in and let me go.

My last ticket was in Florida. I was returning from the middle east after 5 weeks of terrible food and surly locals. I had flown out of JacksonVile since it was a last minute trip, so I had to drive down 7 hours to catch the flight (the company probably saved $20 on the ticket, before reimbursing me $145 for mileage. Pennywise and dollar dumb, like many corporations). So when I returned, I wanted to get back to Atlanta as fast as possible. So I took I-10 west to I-75 north with my foot to the floor the whole time (my wife's Saturn Sky hauled ass, she rarely let me drive it).

I was well over 100 for most of I-10, then I got on 75 and about 5 miles from the GA border I looked to the right and saw a hill filled with state trooper cars easing down to the freeway to catch me and all the speed demons around me. It was a freakin turkey shoot. The cop who pulled me over said the aircraft got me at 98. I said I wasn't going to argue the ticket I was just so glad to be back in America. She asked me where I had been and I explained my Tunisian nightmare and showed her a Libyan flag I bought when we went to Tripoli for a couple of days. When she came back from the cruiser she said she wrote it for 89 so I wouldn't get super speeder status. It was still a $500 ticket and Geico is still punishing me for it years later. And my wife took the Sky away for good, traded it for an SUV.

These days I drive a low brow Volvo that blends to the point of obscurity. It helps that I look like an aging corporate dork when I'm driving to work. I haven't been pulled over since 2013, but I have been followed at very close range and I had a cop pull beside me and tell me my brake light was out.

So out of all my tickets I met 2 decent cops. The rest were textbook oinkers!

Had my license for 18 years and have been pulled over for about 5 times. Never got a ticket that way. I only got speeding tickets btw.
During one of those stops I was tested on alcohol intake and i had 2 bottles of beer that evening. Which is allowed btw! Had a very civil chat with those cops. It all went as its supposed to go.

Geez, let's see once for speeding and underage possession of alcohol, I wasn't driving. We got busted.

Once on suspicion of robbery as we were in the neighborhood at 1:00 am. The cop tried to let us go but I couldn't stop talking to him for some reason, drugs may have been involved.

Once for using a beer bottle label for an inspection sticker.

Once for speeding and alcohol possession. The cops made us empty all the beer bottles then let us go because they had something more important to do. I had to go to driving school for that one.

Once as we were leaving a party that got reported for being to loud. The cops let us go even though one guy was puking out the window of my car.

Once for some unknown reason in town. The cop followed us for about three blocks and yelled at us for not stopping. We couldn't decide where to pull over. I think the cop got high when the driver rolled down the window to show him his GI id so he let us go.

I think three other times for speeding. I got points for all those.

Once I was followed to my parents house and when the state cop got out he almost shot my dog. He was just checking 'cause I had long hair and looked suspicious.

Once on dirt bikes for trespassing by a vigilante toting a shotgun who held us until the state police arrived. Although were on LSD we talked out way out of that one.

And once I didn't technically get pulled over but the head of the state police landed his helicopter in a park we frequented and lectured us about something before he flew away. We were on LSD again so what exactly happened is a little fuzzy.

So something like 12 times....although there may have been more that I've forgotten.

in a city once, driving in the bus line.
in the hood/hood 3 times by task force.
flee and elude a couple times from dirty cops only to get captured by ok cops.

In all my years of driving, just once for a broken tail light and I did not get a ticket.

Never been pulled over for speeding, because I drive like a grandma going 2 under the limit.

I have an existential fear of dealing with the police, so naturally I take all precautions when driving to avoid them. It's just not worth it in my opinion. Too many trigger happy cops out there.

Probably 4 times pulled over and another 4 incidents involving the police.

My most recent ticket was a bogus Texting while Driving infraction and I straight up cussed the fuck out of the po po :D First time I've done that but I was like an exit away from my work and I have no idea what he saw, however he didn't show up for the arraignment, so it got dismissed.

I used to be a fairly reckless driver. I've gotten plenty of tickets and been to traffic school more times than I can count on one hand. But I can think of two times off the top of my head when the cops just let me go with a warning.

    1. I went through a stop sign and a cop saw me. I told her that I would lose my license and she said to make sure I stop behind the limit line. So from then on I have.

    2. I was speeding around someone and a cop saw me. He pulled me over and I showed him my license and all that.... registration/insurance. I think he commented on my good driving record (the last 5 years I've been pretty good) and let me go, but mentioned that the speed limit is 65 on the freeway.

I had a bad track record for a while, starting the second day I had my license. I was pulled over for running a red light (because I eased into an intersection to turn left and didnt realize the light had turned red while I was sitting there, i was a bit panicky). The cop took pity on me and gave me a warning.

Then one other time in high school for speeding

Then when I was 19 or 20 I was pulled over 4 times in one year for speeding, oops. That sucked because I was also a broke college student and racked up $1000 in tickets that year

Then I went a really long time without being pulled over, until I was pulled over for speeding a couple of months ago. I was given a warning

once when i was 20 because someone had escaped from the local prison and they were checking cars with more than one person. i had 3 very drunk passengers and my screaming infant son in the car.
i don't usually drive but i have been pulled over on my bicycle and given a ticket that was bullshit. i hope that intersection is now a four-way stop. cop claimed i didn't stop, but i had my feet on the ground when the car across from me waved for me to go first... so i went and the cop was suddenly there, i was never in danger but he acted like i jumped out in front of him, maybe if he had been going the speed limit....
    whatever.

    Once...

Cop needed to make his quota for the month.

Back in the day I was chased a lot, but they never caught me, so that doesn't count.

well its been more the twenty years since the last time i did drive.

to the best of my recollection, from the time i started driving, until the last time i did,
(a span of i guess almost 50 years), i was stopped exactly twice.

both were on what seemed to be empty roads.

once was because i didn't know my speed because my speedomiter was broken,
and the other was a wrong lane change, that the details of the circumstance left me no real other options.

i don't think i've ever been stopped any other times then those two.
