Hello everyone. Im going to be designing an adult toy for my final semester and would like as much input as I can get. I do not know much about adult toys but I am a good designer so any replies I recieve would really help and be appreciated. Thank you 1. What type of toy do you own? 2. What is your favorite toy and why? 3. What is your least favorite toy and why? 4. What would you like to see in a new adult toy? 5. What is your favorite feature on any toy and why? 6. What is your least favorite feature on any toy and why?
Seeing as I run a porn store, let me tell you this: 1. We carry pretty much everything. 2. Most popular toys are butt plugs and clit stimulating dongs. 3. Least popular toys that sit on shelves forever are the plain old smooth vibrators. 4. Most of the new toys are waterproof (never really understood why you'd want an 'un'waterproof toy but I digress) and the hottest thing now it seems are glass toys (think Pyrex). 5. Most people want things that vibrate but the new trend also seems to be towards things that light up as well. 6. Most common thing people bitch about when looking at toys are ones that have cords...people can't understand why you'd want a cord sticking out of you (and I completely agree). They also want something that will last more than just a few weeks which tends to be a problem in the adult novelty business...quality.
I have several toys myself, including a vibrator, a plain gel but plug, a vibrating butt plug, and a dual control vibrating sleeve / penile extender (which, incidentally is a dead loss as my ample girth prevents me from being able to fit into it). However, my favorite toy is, by far, the FleshLight. As with any masturbatory toys for boys even the FleshLight has its drawbacks as it has limitations on girth. Although it does have plenty of give, eventually the silicone material wears away & splits at the thinnest point (which is at the part nearest the glans). My only other criticism of the FleshLight is that the silicons material also has a tendency to quickly degrade & become very sticky - very much like rubber solution that has gone off. Due to the aforementioned problems of splitting, I have had to replace the inserts several times, when I have also taken the opportunity of trying out the different types available. The most recent being the Speed Bump, which comprises of a series of nodules providing the inner texture, although, to be honest, this didn't seem much better than my very first basic plain one. At the other extreme, however, I have found the Wonder Wave to be the best so far, consisting of a series of concentric circular ridges along the inner length. I think I might try going for one of the Ultra Tight ones next time, as not only does the description say that it allows for up to a 6" girth (although I am 7"), the illustration shows that the amount of material between the inner & the outer to be greater, thus possibly adding additional strength & avoiding splitting. Although not in the category of a sex toy, one thing I would like to see produced is a hair remover that is safe to use on pubic hair. I have tried Veet, but that leaves one hell of a burning sensation for days afterwards. Perhaps you might consider that for a future project.
I see this quite a lot and the main problem is people don't know how to take care of their toys. To prevent the silicone from becoming 'sticky' and to help preserve it, be sure to wash it after EVERY time you use it with warm water and dish soap (Palmolive or Dawn). Dry it off with a soft towel (not paper towels) and dust it in baby powder till the next time you use it. With just this little bit of care, your silicone toys will last months. Hope this helps.
