How many do you have and where do you fall in the lineup? Do you fit in the birth order stereotype? Oldest Child is usually the Achiever and Leader. Middle Child is usually the Peacemaker and the forgotten one. Youngest Child is usually a little more Wild and Independent. Only Child is usually more mature or selfish.
I'm number 5 out of 8. I was the youngest for the first 27 years. I think I kind of fit a few of the stereotypes. I'm independent and wild but I have my shit together. I'm the leader within my family even with that many siblings. I have 1 biological sister, 4 foster brothers, 1 step brother and 1 step sister. There are almost 80 people just in my immediate family.
i'm the baby. have a sister older by about 3 1/2 years. i had a twin in the womb but i ate him and obtained his soul power.
It's definitely not true in my case. I have one sister, she's a year older than me. And she is much, much more wild and independent.
I have 1 brother who is 3 years my junior. As kids, we had our rivalry, we used to fight at times. Now, we are close friends. But still, always will be older and younger brother. Also have a half brother who is 23 years younger. Only a year older then my own daughter. I didn't have much contact with him while he was growing up, and only got to know him as a teenager. It's hard to relate as brothers in that situation because the bonds were never formed.
I have 3 sisters and was the 3rd sister born. My eldest pretends she's not mid 30s and pretends she is still 20. She even disregards and ends friendships with people her own age for younger friends. She is not leader nor achiever. My second eldest is the brains of the family. Literally. She has a husband and kids and earns a lot of money. Then there's me... I'm not forgotten, but I'm not like the others at all. I'm like a mixture of all, except I know my age and I'm no scientist. Then there's my youngest who's really wild etc. she fits that spot.
my brother was an only child. well really, my mom had physical difficulties to have any children. being a difficult birth, i was her first, last and only. and my parents married for life. if i could have spent my entire childhood, fed and housed, without human contact, well no, as in infant i needed that. but as soon as i was able to go for long walks by myself, around the age of 4, before i started kindergarten, starting around that time, the happiest every since, have been when i've been by myself. so anyway, what i'm saying is i like having been an only child. as for being spoiled by it, i don't see how. my parents meant well enough, but they were neither geniuses nor particularly well off. i wished them well, but never really felt close enough to either of them to call it love or hate. when my dad finally got his first car, only a few months before i graduated high school, we went on a lot of little road trips together. growing up in all the back woodsy kind of places where the railroad he worked for went through, i've just always thought more in terms of places then individual people in them. i've had friends, even more then one lover. but i've always been 'the cat who walks alone'.
I am the youngest of four and we all fit the stereotypical birth order traits. My oldest brother is responsible and straight laced, the next youngest is the forgotten one and the one who keeps to himself, the third youngest is the peacemaker and the glue that holds all my siblings together, and I am definitely the quirkiest and most free spirited. I am also the younger than the next youngest sibling by 9 years so I exhibit traits typical of only children as well. Growing up I always said I didn't have 3 siblings, I had 5 parents.
I'm #4 of five. I'm the only girl. We lost #3 when he was 48 yrs old. Both our parents have died. My oldest brother recently became widowed. The dynamics change throughout our lifetimes depending on what's going on. I don't see spending 75 -90 years with the same family dynamics. Maybe it happens but not in our family.
Just a little blood brother. A few sisters and brothers, though not related. Both me and my little bro... we will shut down anything we enter, promise you regardless of age.... Cause ill tell everyone to get the fuck out, but im only telling men, cause the lil bro always has the girls inside.
I'm the oldest. Yes the leader and achiever. 2nd in line is more mellow in the dynamic. I've also seen it with my 2 sets of 3 cats, at separate times. Eldest is the statesman, the ruler. Middle is is easy going. Youngest, the wild child. Also saw it with extended family. You see similar traits if you have brothers/sisters/a mix.
That was pretty normal in the netherlands a generation or 2 ago (my dad has about 7 or 8 siblings too). But yeah, one or 2 seems better in pretty much every way
