Well, long story short, I think I am just plain burned out on weed. I took a break for a whole week and then smoked again last night, and it started out fine but I was in a bad setting with some annoying people and it just wasn't a good time.

I just feel really numbed out and depressed lately whenever I smoke or even plan on smoking. This is coming after months of use where I would smoke a lot all and at night, and right before bed.

I feel a lot better when I'm sober but I still get depressed when I think about all this stuff. I'm guessing that it's just being burned out on it's effects, like I am way too used to it, that it just kind of zombies me out. But it's upsetting because I want to be able to smoke and love it like I used to, not even necessarily when I first began but more like when I just smoke maybe a couple times a week.

Do you guys know the feeling well? Will I get back to normal if I cut it out? I really think I just need to get 100% of the THC out of my system. If I recall, it takes a month to completely have it out. Is this correct? A month to drain out all the THC?

If anyone can share some experiences and let me know if they were able to go back to it eventually, and if a break really helped them out, let me know. I guess I was getting my hopes up too much that one week would make things a lot better, so I hope that a full month or two off would help. I am just so sick of feeling this way I want to get back to normal.

a lot of it is probably your mindset altering... after so long of being high, you probably think in different ways than you did before. obviously, if you feel sad about going and getting high, don't. you might be a little mentally addicted - if so, find some other hobbies and stuff. you should be back to normality after a while. give it some time.

good luck bro, all the best to you! i recently went through getting out of a psychological addiction myself (World of Warcraft)... i'm not saying you are necessarally addicted, but it might be a possibility for your unhappiness.

Hey man, I thank you for your reply. I would say I have a mental addiction to it for sure. It slipped in on me when I started using it to go to sleep at night to battle my insomnia, and I guess I just got both dependant on it and to used to it. And I think I have just been realizing this for real lately. Very depressing.

Without getting into details, my family has also had some really heavy shit to deal with this year, and we have to go to court soon to testify for it. For most of this school year I haven't had to deal with it as much, but I think that since we are going to trial in about half a month, that the stresses of it are on my mind more and more.

When you have to go through some of the toughest shit people are ever asked to deal with, maybe it's not a good time to be getting high, maybe it's the time to get as clear a head as possible until the storm has passed. Real life scary situations are bad enough without being high all the time.

If this is the case and why I have been getting so down easily, then hopefully I can enjoy the benefis of mary jane again someday and keep it in moderation. In the past I have been successful with sticking to priorities I have set for smoking, so I would have even more priorities this time around, and won't make my life have such an emphasis on weed.

man i have pretty much exact same shit goin on now except im not in any legal trouble, but i can dig what your saying. You have to stop smoking at least for awhile to get back to your normal feeling, and the depression i dont know how serious you think it is but it a shrink might help if you think you need it.

    good luck man

reality sucks... think of Reality as LA... and LA sucks.. and well look at marijuana as smog.. a cloud of smoke that covers up LA... yea.. thats my analogy of the day

i think all you need to do is put it beside you and carry on. depression wont get you anywhere.

so just dont think about it. when you feel depressed, just find something else to think about. like when you feel that emotion, identify what thoughts they are and make a conscious effort when you think about them to just change the topic.

you need something new to engage yourself with. otherwise youll just wallow around in a hole of self pity.

dont waste your money on a psychiatrist.

lol i was WAY worse than you

i had a 60 warrior and like 10 other chars around level 20-25, played probably 10 hours a day for about 3 months, and 4 hours a day for another month too. during frosh year at uni. got a 2.6 GPA that term anyways, but this semester after i stoppped it went up to a 3.7. but yeah, WoW is killer. my buddy in res had two 60s, and when he decided to quit he totalled up all his /played time, and he'd played 170 days (like, hour-wise), in ONE YEAR and a month. that's like playing every day 6 hours at least EVERY DAY.

but even he is off it now. but that shit is a bitch to leave :p

Many people don't realize that marijuana is a depressent drug.
If you are already feeling low, smoking pot isn't a great idea.

While many people will take comfort in the 'inner reflection' that MJ tends to provide, others (typically those who have 'bad trips') get aggitated by it and the detatchment from reality it creates.

MJ is also an inhibatory drug. The affects of which, I beleive extend beyond the psychoative reactions. A chronic will typically lack motivation and enthusiasm (probably psychological withdrawal symptoms). Both of which symptoms in themselves can be depressing too, as you fail to meet your own expectations.

Of course, this is not to say that all pot smokers are like that, but I notice these characteristics in most 'chronics', including myself.

dont mean to sound rude but it is you who does not realise.

    a) the classification 'depressant' has nothing to do with the emotion 'depressed', except that most depressed people seek depressants to make them feel better.

    b) marijuana is not a depressant, and the reason it makes sad people feel worse is because it can remove established emotional links with issues and open the path for totally new ones to be established on the spot based on whatever logic first comes to mind. for some peoples minds, the newly formed emotional reactions to thoughts can drive the direction of thoughts to negative and anxious things. so yes, the introspective quality of cannabis can aggrivate some. but its not because of any 'depressant' quality.

    c) the motivational lack of heavy smokers is not due to inhibition, but merely the lack of motivational impulse. not some sort of blocking of impulse. there is nothing stopping a smoker from having motivation, there is just less driving it. these are very different circumstances, for an inhibition would imply that laziness is inescapable - the drug pushes against motivation. when really there is simply less pushing on the motivation side, which can be overcome with mindset and identification of goals and the like. if marijuana prevented a person from having motivation, the drug would clearly have a less diverse effect than we see it does on people all over the world.

    d) this topic is about the effects of weed when youre sober and the direct effects of teh drug have worn off. the concepts youre takling about involve the moment of highness.

    just noticed youre new, thasall

So anyway, how long does it generally take to get all the THC out of your system? After my one week break I was definitely starting to feel better at the end of it, in fact generally the only think that made me feel really anxious and upset was the thought of smoking again, and wondering if I'd ever be at a point where I could comfortably do it again.

But I don't think I'm as concerned with that now- after all the shit I'm gonna have to deal with is over in about the middle of june, I'm hoping that I can smoke in moderation this time, and enjoy it once again. But if I can't, if it still gives me anxiety and depression, then I will just have to give it up.

I took a 3 month break last summer and at some point in there I realized I couldn't even remember what it felt like to be high, only that I used to like it a lot.

So again, how long does it generally take to clear out? Was I a fool for hoping that one week would be sufficient?
