How does God make this justice happen?

    Genesis 4:15

And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

    Genesis 4:24

If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.

If an unrepentant killer goes to hell forever and an unrepentant killer of a killer goes to hell forever, how then can the punishment that God promises be fulfilled?

How can God give punishment seven times forever or seventy times forever?

    Regards

    DL

oooooh, gee gosh o'golly, that's a toughie! Let's start with the "If". Genesis isn't literally true, and anything can happen in fiction. But let's assume, for purposes of argument, that it is true. If I understand the "dilemma" you're presenting, Jusitice requires proportionally worse punishment for the worse offender, & if they're both getting the maximum--eternal damnation--how could that happen. Dante had a solution: there are different levels of hell, some worse than others.

actually i think he meant a life of suffering.

Cain was very distraught when he was sent west or w/e he was sent, he told God that he would not be able to survive. sorry i dont remember this story that well. he thought ppl would kill him or something, which doesn't make sense cuz the only ppl were adam and eve and thier children.

I dont think he meant sevenfold worse in the afterlife. I think he meant while your here. Like karma.

It seems strange to me that the only penalty for him murdering would be a mark on the head and then allowing him to just carry on and have fun with his sister bride.

If that is punishment then the one who killed him would get seven sister wives and be allowed to carry on.

Then again seven wives would be one hell of a curse.

I don't think he does believe the crazy shit. The game has to do with finding it and confronting believers with it, in the assumption that they do believe it an will melt away in the light of his cleverness. Right?

Okie, do you believe I'm going to hell because I don't believe in Jesus, nor do I believe in your god; but rather, in G-d?

Hell is a bad attitude. It's real, but I don't believe people "go" there just because of their belief in God or Jesus. If you do, I'll be there with you, bro.

This is also my stand on it.

Okie, if Hell is indeed real, what is it that sends a person to such a place?

I'd say by willfully rejecting and challenging the basic principles of universal morality, especially unconditional love of others. Hell is the condition that would exist if the world were controlled by Nero, Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Sadaam, & Ted Bundy. By approximating the mentality of these evildoers, we can create a piece of hell on earth for ourselves and those unfortunates who cross our paths.

A solid response, I applaud you.

I guess then you don't believe in the Bible?

I think Hell is a more of an internal thing, like a state of mind, than a place. Like, when I have insane mood swings, my perception of reality is rather hellish. When I am not in that state of mind and more centered in reality, the world no longer no longer seems unbearable. There have been times during deep acceptance that I felt at peace, which I would call the Heaven mindset. After all, Jesus did say the Kingdom of Heaven lies within.

Sorry, this is rather confusing, but I'm trying my best to explain myself. And if Hell was a place, this questions the assumptions of God- why would he need to create a place for those who disobey him? Especially when he knows who is going to be saved and who won't- why would he set these people up to fail? Why would he punish those who have no other choice b/c of The Fall? Why would he ask man to do something he knew man could not do?

    Peace and love

well, i think he gives us a chance to do each other justice. that is the only possibility that i see to make justice happen. i think its not like if you've been a sweet boy or girl you'll go to heaven and otherwise you go to hell, but like if you make each others life to a hell you create hell if you try to make each other happy and feel at ease, you will create heaven

    ^^^

I agree. I love this quote: The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a Heav'n of Hell, a Hell of Heav'n. John Milton- personally, I find fictional accounts of Christian ideas such as Paradise Lost & Dante's Divine Comedy to be a much better read than the Bible & other religious text.

I am glad that most here recognize that there is no Hell in the traditional Christian form.

It would be inconceivable to me to imagine God sitting back looking at a hell to spoil His back forty.

It would mean that He somehow screwed up on the production of perfect souls.

Scripture says that all His works are perfect including all here. Heaven is our destiny.

I think it just takes some people a little longer to get there.
    so then, what is death?
it sounds like we have some reincarnation believers here.
