How do you respond

When someone says to you, "We are followers of the lord, and we just wanted to let you know that Jesus loves you"........

I was at the register ringing out this young couple and she told me that after I handed the change to her. I'm about to laugh then I look at her boyfriend thinking it's a joke, but he's dead serious. I look back and said very confused, "thank you?". Damn I wish I had time to say something clever back.

 

Ya i get that some times.
i usually say stupid polite stuff like "i love him too" since i dont believe but my family is kinda religious so i respect that on people.

but one time we were having a cig outside a rave and getting some fresh air, and a hippie girl says that to us,and my fucked up friend yells, I hate gay hispanic people,tell him ill sue this motherfucka. and the funny thing is that she replied "ya,haha fuck that" and walked away.

haha weird.. i just kind of awkwardly smile and don't say anything, out of politeness i guess. i don't like when people say that shit though.

I laugh in their face and tell them that if he loves me, then he definitely doesn't love them.

People can have any belief that they wish to have, thats the nature of being individuals... the moment you try to push that belief on someone else, the person has the right to share their's back.

Now, if you want to change this up a bit to, "what do you do when someone like that knocks on your door at home", I can offer a much more colorful answer.

Yeah it's so damn awkward. If people are handing out fliers outside I just don't make eye contact and walk around them haha. Did she know I wasn't a religious person or something? I don't understand. I don't go around telling strangers about my vegetarian ways and how animals have feelings too.

I was once approached by a couple of recruiters to this one religion......they started talkin about the lord and I said i'm an atheist and walked away. They shouted after me "atheist???" like I just told them I had syphilis. Only now i'm pagan and share buddhist beleifs, but I thought it was hilarious at the time.
